Dogs are part of the family so you may want to include them in everything but some things would do more harm than good. When using sparklers it is often dark and your dog may naturally follow you outside but you could trip over them, making your dog a potential fire hazard...be careful 😅

Dogs can get very excitable at Christmas as things are not normally this busy and loud. Also, there may be treats or objects that your dog would love to get their paws on but it's not safe for them to do so.

Here is one to look out for - chocolate decorations on your tree
These can easily fall on the floor and be hoovered up by your dog. Chocolate is poisonous to dogs so best to eat them all so they don't get a chance, or place them elsewhere out of reach!

As we get closer to New Year's Eve, the threat of fireworks will be soon upon us. Many dogs are frightened of fireworks and you may experience changes in their behaviour.

Here are a couple of tips to distract your dog:
- Keep them calm by giving them a long-lasting dog chew
- Keep the TV or radio on in the room they are in as this drowns out some noise
- Don't confine your dog to one room, let them have free rein to find their safe place.
