🐴 Horse Riding Update ☀️

With the current amber weather warning and temperatures expected to continue rising into next week, the welfare of our horses and riders remains our top priority.

As a result, we may need to slow down or make adjustments to some riding lessons during the hottest parts of the day.

Our team will be monitoring conditions on an hour-by-hour basis and will contact those affected should any lessons need to be amended.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we put the wellbeing of our horses and riders first. 💙

Volunteers' Week - Pip's story.
Meet Pip – our longest-serving volunteer!

Pip has been part of Ferring Country Centre since the very beginning in 1986. She first became involved as a volunteer, having previously kept a horse at livery at the former riding school. At that time, the Centre consisted of just one Day Service Customer, Sarah (who still works with the horses today) and a single horse. Over the years, she’s seen the Centre grow into the thriving community it is today.
From baking hundreds of cakes and mince pies, to sewing and repairing rugs (a skill she still shares!), and even donating a horse for riding therapy, Pip has supported every part of life here.
She represents the many dedicated long-serving volunteers who give their time and skills so generously, we truly couldn’t do it without them.
Reflecting on her time here, Pip says, “Volunteering is incredibly rewarding – Ferring really does feel like a second home. I have so many stories I could tell!”

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our inspiring young volunteers, Poppy.

When Poppy first applied to volunteer with us at Ferring Country Centre, she didn’t yet have the experience needed for the riding school. Undeterred, she took the initiative to attend our BHS training sessions, working hard to build her skills and confidence.

Since then, Poppy has developed into a reliable and capable member of our riding school young volunteers team, always willing to learn and lend a hand. Alongside this, she has successfully completed both her Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards with us—an achievement she should be very proud of.

Poppy’s determination and commitment have really stood out, and it’s been fantastic to see her grow in confidence and ability. We’re thrilled to have her as part of our team!🐴

👏 Thank you, Poppy, for everything you do!
