Every dog experiences the world in their own way, and for some, it can feel a little overwhelming at times. It starts with something small. A noise you barely notice, a shadow that moves too quickly, a knock at the door… and suddenly, your dog is barking, hiding, panting or trembling.
In that moment, your dog looks to you for safety and connection. The good news is, you already have what it takes to help them feel calmer.
Dog Anxiety Awareness Week is a reminder that you don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be there. And the way you show up already makes more of a difference than you realise.
In this video, our Founder Holly shares 3 gentle ways to support your anxious pooch, using practical ideas to help you better understand and respond to what they need most when they’re feeling a little unsettled.
1. Keep things simple. A steady routine and a calm, quiet space can give your dog somewhere to retreat when the world feels too much.
2. Give them something to focus on. Snuffle Mats or LickiMats encourage sniffing and licking, repetitive behaviours that are naturally soothing and grounding for your dog.
3. Add a natural calming support like a diffuser, herbal blend or calming treats to help them feel more settled, gently supporting their nervous system toward a calmer state.
If you ever need a little extra guidance along the way, we’re here to support you 🤍
