Olive egg commercial hybrids , starting to lay first pullet eggs now. £17 , alongside all the regular hybrids barred rock, blacktails, leghorns , blues , Sussex hybrids etc, £17 all will be laying in April. Open Saturdays 10 til 4 for collection.

Egg shell colour , when is it a premium and when is it not ? So just collected these from the pens this morning. Cream crested legbars (china blue, not green, not mint, blue) rhodie (tan) maran (dark terracotta to dark brown - varies with time of year)

All come from specific breeds with their unique characteristics. The bloodlines are carefully monitored and we work over a year in advance breeding to avoid in-breeding and make observations on egg production rates so they can be mixed in with heavy layers and not pull the flock down.

The olive / khaki shades are just gained by mixing a blue egg bird with a brown egg bird. Nothing more than another hybrid that's producing a mixed tint on the shell. If it appeals to you, that's great, the birds that have just started laying the muddy eggs are here for the £17 same as the other hybrids. You're welcome 🤗

Grabbed some of the 8 week olds (£8) whilst they were feeding, they are so cute at this age , put them somewhere new and they stay there for a minute wondering what just happened and how did I get here. There's 7 different breeds of heavy laying birds at £8 , and some pure rhodies knocking at a similar age that can be mixed in whilst young. Happy now all feathered up and eating well to be outside. Can't be mixed with mature birds as they'd get bullied , but as a new flock they will adapt to the space they finish growing in and laying in April. Only difference from point of lay at this age is they are half the price and will eat rearers pellet instead of layers pellet (which we have here if needed) untill the normal Saturday collection day restarts next month, just mail us on [email protected] to organise collection.

Been hatching from birds in natural conditions on the field, no extra light , copper blue, copper black marans, cream crested legbars. We specialise in good laying hybrid and pure breeds. This is important because if you mix poor laying pure breeds with heavy layers they will suppress the lay in the heavy layers. As we want to keep hens out of cages we aim to get garden eggs everywhere. Hence we only do better laying pures tonsell along side our wide range of heavy laying hybrids; Rhode island reds, marans and legbars. Fertile eggs and young stock available

17 week old pure Rhode Island Red available now £25 , also some a little younger at 14 weeks £20 from consecutive hatch, all are running together. Lovely yellow legs and a good old heavy laying strain. So good that hatching eggs are available throughout Winter also.

So hard to take pics of free ranging young birds ! Cornered a few near gates and fences , so you can see the actual birds for sale , not summer sun set up pics lol. We are coming to the final month of the season as we prep for the 10 week deep clean and welcome the next wave of sexed day olds into the brooders in December. There are birds at 16 to 18 weeks of age £16 still available, blues, blacktails, Sussex hybrid , odd silver Sussex.
