🦎 A lizard with no legs… and no It’s Not a Snake… It’s Better !
Our last Legless Lizard (Pseudopus apodus) is fresh out of a shed and looking amazing here at Ely Exotics – and if you’ve never seen one in person, now’s your chance.
These guys always cause a double-take. At first glance, you’d swear it’s a snake – but take a closer look, and the differences are clear:
🔍 It’s a lizard – here’s how you know:
✔️ Movable eyelids (they blink – snakes don’t!)
✔️ Visible ear openings
✔️ A short, thick, inflexible tail
✔️ Small vestigial limbs near the rear
📦 Easy to keep, fascinating to own:
Legless Lizards are active, inquisitive, and surprisingly hardy. Give them a spacious enclosure with dry, loose substrate for burrowing, some hides, a basking area, and UVB lighting – and you’re set.
🥚 Diet:
Omnivorous and easy to feed. They enjoy a mix of insects, snails, chopped egg, leafy greens, and the occasional bit of fruit.
🌍 Found in the wild across southeast Europe and western Asia, they’re adapted to dry grasslands, rocky terrain, and scrub – which makes them right at home in a well-designed terrarium.
This is our last one available, and they never stick around for long.
