🌿🕷️ They’re Back! Giant Tailless Whip Scorpions (Damon medius) at Ely Exotics! 🕷️🌿

We’re excited to announce that Giant Tailless Whip Scorpions are back in stock at Ely Exotics! These fascinating arachnids are a must for any exotic invertebrate enthusiast — and they always disappear fast, so don’t miss out!

🦗 About Damon medius:
Despite their fearsome appearance, these whip scorpions are completely harmless to humans. They lack venom and instead use their long, spindly front legs as “whips” to navigate their environment.

🌱 Natural Habitat:
Found in tropical forests of Africa, Damon medius prefers humid, low-light environments like caves, crevices, and under bark. We recommend a vertically oriented terrarium with plenty of climbing surfaces and hiding spots.

📏 Size:
They can reach up to 20–25cm legspan, with their body measuring around 4–5cm. Those long “whip” legs make them look even larger than they are!

🍽️ Diet:
These guys are opportunistic insectivores and will happily feed on livefoods like crickets, roaches, and the occasional waxworm. Feed 2–3 times a week depending on size.

🦎 Species: Salvator merianae
🌎 Native to: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay — warm, humid forest and grassland environments.

Why we love them:
✔️ Highly intelligent and can even be target trained
✔️ Docile when handled regularly
✔️ Active, curious, and full of personality

Care essentials:
📏 Size: Adults can reach 3.5–4.5 feet in length
🌡️ Temperature: Basking spot around 40-45°c, with a cooler end at 23–30°c

We’re excited to announce that Red Tegus (Salvator rufescens) are back in stock—and they’re looking absolutely stunning! These intelligent, hardy lizards are a favourite for experienced keepers and make an impressive addition to any reptile collection. 🦎❤️

🔍 About Red Tegus:
Native to South America—particularly Argentina and surrounding regions—Red Tegus thrive in warm, semi-tropical environments. They’re known for their deep red colouring, curious nature, and surprising intelligence. Many even become quite tame with consistent handling!

📏 Size & Enclosure Needs:
These beauties can reach up to 4–5 feet in length, so they need a large, secure enclosure with plenty of floor space to roam.

🌡️ Care & Conditions:
• Temperature Gradient: 25–32°C with a basking spot up to 45°C
• Humidity: Moderate to high (60–80%)

We’ve got 3 stunning Colorado River Toads now available at Ely Exotics – and they are something truly special!

These incredible toads are native to the arid deserts of the southwestern USA and northern Mexico, particularly around the Colorado River Basin. Known for their size, personality, and unique appearance, they make a fascinating addition to any collection.

👉 Care Overview:
✅ Size – These giants can grow up to 7 inches (18 cm) and are one of the largest toads in North America.
✅ Diet – Voracious eaters! Feed them a variety of live prey like crickets, roaches, mealworms, and even the occasional pinkie (for adults).
✅ Habitat – These toads thrive in a semi-arid, warm enclosure with a large, shallow water dish, loose substrate for burrowing, and plenty of humidity during active months. A daytime temp of 23–30°c with a nighttime drop is ideal.
