Rabbit behaviour & bonding ๐Ÿฐ

Rabbit behaviour that indicates they are happy and content would be:
- โ€˜Binkyโ€™ which is a happy hop
- Flopping on their side
- Eating well
- Interacting with their companion
- Grooming
- Greeting for food

Rabbit behaviour that indicates a problem would be:
- not grooming
- Not eating
- If their ears are pinned back
- Teeth grinding
- Not eating caecotrophs (soft poos)
- Change in posture/ gait

Steps to bond rabbits:
- When getting a new rabbit you should isolate them to ensure there is no spread of disease.
- Each rabbit should be in a separate pen to begin with and in a neutral room. Rabbits can be very territorial so this is important.
- Place the pens next to each other and observe for any aggressive behaviour (this should be done for a couple of weeks)
- You can then begin introducing them in the same small pen for 5-10 minutes with constant observation for aggression.
- All going well the interactions can be increased until they are bonded.

Rabbit feeding ๐Ÿฅฆ

A rabbits diet should consist of 85-90% high quality hay, then supplemented with nuggets and fresh greens.

Suitable fresh greens:
- Basil
- Broccoli
- Celery (chopped)
- Curly kale
- Dandelion leaves

Pellets are preferable over muesli as the pellets are uniform and all the same compared to muesli. Muesli encourages selective feeding which can lead to an unbalanced diet and obesity. Please ensure your rabbit has access to fresh water at all times.
