May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, and we’re always grateful for the incredible work our VN team does!

They are highly skilled medical professionals who provide expert nursing care to sick and injured animals. Through their extensive training, veterinary nurses develop a wide range of practical and clinical skills, which they use every day in hands-on patient care. From assisting in surgery and performing diagnostic procedures, to monitoring anaesthesia and running tests, their role is vital in ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.

Whether they are carrying out complex clinical tasks or offering comfort and reassurance, their compassion and dedication are at the heart of everything they do for your fluffy friends.
We’re proud to celebrate our amazing nursing team this Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month! 🐾

Meet Barney! Earlier this spring, this brave French Bulldog came to us with a cervical disc extrusion that happened after a sneeze and left him paralysed in all four legs. Emergency spinal surgery was performed the very same day — and thanks to Barney’s determination, rapid intervention, and the incredible dedication of his owners during rehabilitation, his recovery has been amazing to see. 💙
Check out the videos below to follow Barney’s journey!
Sadly, French Bulldogs — along with Dachshunds, Labradors, Poodles, Spaniels and many other breeds — are predisposed to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). If you notice signs of neck/back pain, wobbliness or weakness in your dog, please contact your vet promptly, as early treatment can make all the difference.

We’re so grateful for our amazing Veterinary Care and Animal Care Assistants 💙
They’re the heart of our practice - supporting our vets and nurses, caring for your pets with kindness, keeping everything clean and safe, and making sure every visit runs smoothly. From comforting nervous patients, assisting surgeons in a theatre to preparing our surgical kits, they do it all.

Thank you for everything you do - we couldn’t do it without you!

Join us for an evening of RVN CPD at Ellon Castle

Does cardiopulmonary arrest and resuscitation get you in a flap? Do you feel like the deer caught in the headlights?

Let’s take the stress of out the situation and discuss what we should be doing in a step by step approach. Within this evening we will take a closer look at each step in the RECOVER algorithm to make sure you’re confident in your approach to CPR. What if you’re on a weekend and you’ve limited staff?- come along and Lewis Knox RVN will chat through how to get all staff involved from reception to vets/nurses and everyone in between.

We are also delighted to welcome Jill McHugh RVN, who will present a selection of top tips from a referral nurse, along with a short introduction to the important work of Vetlife.

Places are limited, so please reserve your seat by emailing:
[email protected]
Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Kindly let us know of any dietary requirements when booking.

There is no fee to attend; however, we would greatly appreciate a voluntary donation on the evening in support of Vetlife.
Monday 8th June - 7pm arrival for 7.30pm start.

Hospital can feel like a strange place, so as a Dog‑Friendly Clinic we aim to make your dog’s stay feel as comforting and familiar as possible – a little home away from home 🐾

During their stay, we’ll provide gentle, dog‑approved enrichment tailored to what your dog enjoys. This might include puzzle toys at mealtimes, calm cuddles or massage, simple fun training games, or sometimes just sitting with them and having a chat.

We always follow your dog’s lead, using what they find most reassuring to make their time with us as positive and relaxed as it can be 💙
