Hospital can feel like a strange place, so as a Dog‑Friendly Clinic we aim to make your dog’s stay feel as comforting and familiar as possible – a little home away from home 🐾

During their stay, we’ll provide gentle, dog‑approved enrichment tailored to what your dog enjoys. This might include puzzle toys at mealtimes, calm cuddles or massage, simple fun training games, or sometimes just sitting with them and having a chat.

We always follow your dog’s lead, using what they find most reassuring to make their time with us as positive and relaxed as it can be 💙

Thank you to all the referring vets who joined us for our CPD evening last week, held in conjunction with the BVA.

We were delighted with the turnout and it was fantastic to see so many vets from across the North East of Scotland coming together. We really appreciate everyone taking the time to attend and engage with the discussions.

As always, we’re here to support our referring practices, so if you have any questions following the evening or would like to discuss anything further, please feel free to contact us.

At just 10 weeks old, Honey spent her Valentine’s Day with a broken elbow. Luckily, a couple of weeks later, she’s recovering beautifully, and we’re all completely in love with her 💛

It’s not only the pets that love our staff; our pet owners love them too!

Ruby went through patellar tendon reconstruction surgery with Scott 2 years ago and has recovered very well. Her owners were incredibly grateful for our team and their skills. 🐾

Fueling Recovery: Why Enrichment Matters 🐾

Treats and enrichment aren’t just rewards - they play an important role in keeping your pet calm, content, and mentally stimulated during post-surgery recovery.

With reduced exercise and changes to routine, pets can easily become bored or restless, so engaging their mind helps support smoother healing.

Pick treats that match your pet’s dietary needs, calorie limits, and preferences. Options include:
🐾 Small pieces of cooked chicken
🐾 Liver paste (avoid for low‑fat diets)
🐾 Commercial dog treats

Benefits of Mental Stimulation - Enrichment activities during recovery can help:
🐾 Reduce anxiety and restlessness
🐾 Prevent unwanted or destructive behaviours
🐾 Strengthen your bond
🐾 Provide satisfying mental work that can be as tiring as physical exercise

For pets on a recovery diet, you can use that food for enrichment too - just ensure any extras fit within their daily calorie allowance. Your Vet Nurse can help if you’re unsure.
