What To Do If Your Dog Is Stung By A Bee or Wasp 🐝

Remain calm: your dog will often pick up on your reaction.

🐾 Check the area for a sting
🐾 Gently scrape the sting away if you can see it
🐾 Cool the area with cold water or a cold compress
🐾 Try to stop licking or scratching
🐾 Keep your dog calm and quiet
🐾 Watch closely over the next few hours

⚠️ Call your vet immediately if you notice: ⚠️
• Difficulty breathing
• Swelling around the mouth, throat, eyes or ears
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Weakness or collapse
• Excessive drooling
• Severe swelling
• Multiple stings
• A sting inside the mouth or throat
• Shaking, distress or seeming “not right”

Most stings are mild and settle quickly, but allergic reactions can happen fast and should always be treated as an emergency.

Calm. Quiet. Safe.

I was lucky enough to attend the Chronic Pain Symposium recently, it’s a big educational weekend for vets and allied professionals. The theme this year was how we can all work together to support pets and their care givers. Blue wasn’t so enthusiastic about it 😂
