Brodie became a blood donor after his brother needed a transfusion, so that he could help other dogs in need. Here he is looking very proud after giving his donation, wearing his new Pet Blood Bank bandana🩸

Could your dog be a blood donor?
🩸Fit and healthy
🩸Between one and eight years old
🩸Weigh more than 25kg
🩸Have a good temperament
🩸Have never travelled outside of the UK and Ireland
🩸Vaccinated or have an annual titre test after the first year booster
🩸Not on any medication

See the Pet Blood Bank UK for more information on pet blood donation, what to expect and how it could help. They hope to expand their service to include a blood bank for cats in the UK in future, but in the meantime you can register your cat as a donor with them if they meet the criteria 🐱

It is best to leave baby birds alone where possible. If it is a nestling (no feathers or very few) it should be returned to the nest if possible or a substitute nest. It's normal to find fledglings (baby bird with feathers) on the ground and they should be left alone and monitored. If they are in immediate danger you can move them to a sheltered location nearby. If you find an injured bird, contact your local wildlife rescue centre for advice 🐦‍⬛
