Shirley is at the heart of keeping everything running smoothly as our Practice Manager 🏥💛

Since leaving school, she’s dedicated her career to caring for animals, now bringing that same compassion and understanding into the day-to-day running of the practice.

Outside of work, her love for animals continues, and you’ll often find her spending time with her horses and dogs 🐎

We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team at West Edinburgh Vets 🐾

🌡️🐾 Temperatures are set to rise this week, so it’s important to help keep your pets safe, cool, and comfortable.

Remember to:
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade
🌅 Walk dogs early morning or later in the evening
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car — even for a few minutes
🐹 Move small animal enclosures away from direct sunlight

Heatstroke can happen quickly in pets, so please keep an eye out for excessive panting, lethargy, drooling, or weakness. If you’re concerned about your pet, contact West Edinburgh Vets for advice.

After 2 wonderful years, we’re saying a fond farewell to our amazing vet Olivia, as she moves on to an exciting new opportunity focusing on her passion for exotic pets 🦜🐍

Not only is Olivia an incredibly talented vet, but she’s also adored by our clients, patients, and all of us too. Her kindness, dedication, and care have made a lasting impact here at WEV, and we’re so grateful for everything she’s brought to our team!

Whilst we’ll miss her tremendously – and Roo and Moth too! 🐾 – we couldn’t be more excited to see where this next chapter takes her. We know she’s going to achieve incredible things, and exotic pets everywhere will be very lucky to have her!

Thank you for everything, Olivia — and best of luck on your new adventure ❤️

This Vet Nurse Awareness Month, we want to give a huge shout out to two of our wonderful nurses, Leanda and Natalie 💙🐾

Veterinary nurses are involved in so much more than people often realise. From monitoring anaesthetics and caring for hospital patients, to running lab tests, giving medications, supporting consults, and comforting nervous pets, they play an essential role in every part of patient care 🩺

Leanda and Natalie bring compassion, skill, patience, and plenty of reassurance to both pets and their owners every single day. Whether it’s a cuddle for a worried patient, keeping a close eye on recovering pets, or helping owners feel more at ease, their care never goes unnoticed.
