Happy Friday Everyone!

Our story this week is of this lovely lass, Freya.

Freya is an 8 year old black Labrador and is such a sweet Princess!

Recently, her owners noticed she was a bit more clingy than normal, a little less enthusiastic about her meals and was generally a bit more lethargic than normal. Little things that you notice when you know your dog inside and out!

After an ultrasound, Freya was diagnosed with a Pyometra. This is where the uterus fills with bacteria and pus.

Freya had a surgery called an ovariohysterectomy, or ("spay") to completely remove the infected uterus and ovaries.

She was ever so brave! She recovered brilliantly, and we are pleased to report she is now her normal self, and especially enjoying lazing in the garden in the sunshine!

If you are looking for a textbook example of a gentle giant, meet Dobby.
Dobby is a gorgeous 3 year old Doberman, who is always so so happy to come and see us in practice. He always gets everyone from through the back to come and see him, and give him some tasty treats.
He really is the best boy!!

There's a pup who knows how to model!
This lovely girlie is Peggy, and we can't believe that she is all grown up!!
Peggy was in recently for her Healthy Pet Club annual vaccinations, and was an absolute delight to have visiting.
She was so well behaved, and passed her clinical exam with no concerns at all.
We cannot wait to see her again soon!

On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise dangerously fast.
‘Not longʼ is too long.
If you canʼt take them with you when you leave the car - leave them safely at home.
Heatstroke is a veterinary emergency.
Symptoms include:
Heavy panting
Excessive salivation
Rapid heart rate
Bright red gums and tongue
Weakness, confusion or collapse
If you see a dog in distress in a hot car, first call 999, then seek veterinary advice urgently.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Our Happy Friday Story today is of this stunning little lad, Artie.

Artie is just 6 months old, and is still figuring out what the world has to offer in terms of tasty treats! He decided to try a lily and see if that was a nice dessert.

Unfortunately, lilies are highly toxic to cats, so Artie found himself in the overnight Vets for some emergency treatment. He was put on a drip, and given carbodote to try and give his stomach some protection.

The next day, he came to our Hillhouse branch as a transfer from Vets Now. He had a lovely day being pampered as an inpatient, with more fluids to flush out the toxins, and bloods taken to check his kidneys.

Artie was allowed home after this, and came back a few days later for more bloods, to check he was back to normal.

Thankfully Artie had not done any serious damage, and we are happy to report he is back to his old self, and basking like the king he is!!
