BORDERS PET RESCUE: because animals matter. We are a small, independent animal rescue charity based in the Scottish Borders, in operation since 1988.

We rely on public donations to help us find suitable loving homes for abandoned and unwanted pets. Borders Pet Rescue take in dogs, cats, small animals & Exotics that are no longer able to be looked after in their present homes for whatever reason. We receive no funding and rely totally on donations from the public to fund our work.

Tess and Claudia are stepping into the spotlight… although this time, they're hoping to present their search for a foster-to-adopt home! 🎤

These two lovely girls are ready to find a home (separately)where they can settle in, continue to recover and get used to life in a home environment.

They may not be presenting Strictly Come Dancing just yet, but they're certainly hoping to make a winning impression! ❤️

A few weeks ago, Sonny arrived severely underweight and needed lots of TLC and a carefully managed diet to get his tummy back on track. Fast forward a few weeks, and just look at him now! 🥹

He absolutely adores his big brother Fig, following him around like a little shadow. Fig is showing Sonny all the best things life has to offer, and these two look like they're having the time of their lives! ❤️

Just look at them racing around that garden before running back to their favourite people. 🐶

🐱PET OF THE WEEK🐱
Sawyer is 9 year old male who is looking for indoor and outdoor access in a home with people 12 years and over.

Sawyer is a very affectionate and cuddly boy who loves spending time with people. He doesn’t just enjoy a cuddle, he snuggles right in and wraps himself around you. ❤️ He also has a real passion for food and is always happy when it’s time for dinner!
Sadly, Sawyer has a growth on his jaw which is suspected to be cancerous. His care is likely to focus on keeping him comfortable and managing any pain. There may come a time when eating becomes difficult for him, so his quality of life will need to be carefully monitored and his welfare will always come first.

We’re hoping to find someone special who can offer Sawyer a loving home, with plenty of cuddles, cosy naps and favourite meals, making every day as happy and comfortable as possible.

Caesar is getting into the Halloween spirit and has decided to be a pumpkin this year! 🎃

And actually, it’s a pretty fitting choice.

Just like a pumpkin, Caesar can seem a little hard on the outside, but underneath that protective shell is a soft, sweet boy with lots of love to give. 🥹

Stevie and Lindsey, our little Fleetwood Mac stars! 🎶

These wee rock stars are now ready to find their forever inside only homes through our foster-to-adopt scheme.

Whether they go their own way to separate homes or stick together as a duo, we’re dreaming of a happy ending for both of them. 🏡🐱

Some of you may remember Maggies story, she arrived with us after being chained up all her life and never experiencing real love ❤️

Maggie joined her family in July 2025, and quickly became known as Maggie May, it seemed to suit her life story.

She took some time to settle into life in a home, but had two little furry friends who, although she never became close to them, she gained reassurance and confidence from them. As she settled she became bouncier and friendlier. She loved her walks, and absolutely LOVED going in the car to get to walks!

She became fitter and stronger, shinier and happier. Unfortunately in Spring 2026, both her little furry friends had to be put down within 2 weeks of each other. This set her back a bit, she didn’t eat as well and wasn’t as happy. But with lots of attention, walks and love she gradually came out of this.

This year she had two beach holidays which she loved. As long as she had her giant bed with her she was secure. Over the summer she became SO, SO happy. She was bouncing everywhere. We took to calling her Benjamin Button as she seemed to get younger every day. She would easily walk 2 or 3 miles, not bad for a 14 year old! She loved her routine, if you were 10 minutes late with her morning walk she started pacing.

Shortbread was required with a cup of tea after lunch. She knew where to stop on all the different walks for a treat. She didn’t like rain - the greyhound in her - bad weather didn’t suit her. That would be a day in bed!

Even on her last day she bounced out in the morning shiny and happy. It was such a shock. We are so lucky to have had this time with her, we just wish she’d had more time to be so happy - she deserved it. ❤️

Just 14 weeks old, this sweet, shy girl has recently recovered from cat flu and is looking for a quiet, indoor-only home. 🐱❤️

Christine needs a little time to build her confidence, but with patience and love, we know she will blossom into a happy, trusting girl. 🥰
