“Just £1 for a Second Chance”

Borders Pet Rescue has set ourselves a challenge. One BIG, heartfelt challenge:
£30,000 in just 1 month.

Here’s the deal:
We have over 25,000 amazing followers on Facebook. That’s 25,000 animal lovers who care deeply about giving cats, dogs, hedgehogs, and every little life in between the second chance they deserve.

Now imagine this…
👉 £1 on its own won’t feed a kitten or a puppy for a day.
👉 £1 won’t keep the lights on for 24 hours.
👉 £1 won’t heat the kennels overnight.

But if every single one of us donates just £1?Together we smash our £30,000 target and guarantee that every animal in our care stays warm, fed, loved, and safe.

💡 How it works
🐾Take the challenge – donate your £1 before 22nd September. One pound, one act of kindness, one huge impact.

🐾Donating your £1 – it’s quick, simple, and costs less than your morning coffee.

🐾Challenge your friends – tag them, share the campaign, and see how many £1s we can collect.

🐾Celebrate with us – we’ll reveal the total and show just how many £1s turned into second chances for animals in need.

❤️ Why it matters
Every day, animals arrive at our rescue needing warmth, food, vet care, and love. 🐾 The bills never stop – but thanks to your kindness and support, neither does our commitment.

🙏 Without you, none of this would be possible. With your help, we can give every single animal the second chance they deserve. ❤️

Donating your £1 is quick and simple – just visit 👉 https://www.facebook.com/donate/1139934131339929/

Every single pound brings us closer to our £30,000 goal.

With the temps to reach up to 29° today all afternoon walks will be canceled and moved to this morning.morning walks will be kept to 15 mins max in the shade with cooling coats. It's to be 27° by lunch time that is far to hot please don't walk your dog any further than for a toilet break. Do not leave dogs in your car mine hit over 50° inside in previous heat waves and this can happen fast. If you have any concrete or slabs in your garden please hose them down before letting your dog out and check the hose before any games with water as the water in the hose usually comes out boiling hot!

Going to be hot again the next few days 🥵.

Do not leave any animals in car and only travel if 100% necessary and you can trust your aircon works well enough to cool down the car. My car hit over 50° in the sun the other year 🥵

Please be careful and don't walk your dogs in the heat unless absolutely necessary for toilet breaks. No dog has ever died from missing a few walks. Even early morning is going to be hot so keep walks short and in the shade/ at water to keep them cool. All walks tomorrow will be very short and with cooling coats once dogs have been soaked down. If you don't have a garden please check pavements before taking dogs out and any non grass areas in garden to make sure it's not too hot for feet.

For those of you with smaller animals you can freeze waterbottles and put those in socks to give them someplace cool to lay down. Do not directly point fans at cages but you can leave one in the room to circulate air. Keep an eye on outside cages water they can evaporate in minutes!.

Maggie’s Last Wish: A Home Filled With Love

Maggie is a 13-year-old Lab cross who has known a lifetime of loneliness. For 13 long years, she lived at the end of a chain — no soft bed, no warm hands, no family to call her own.

Now, for the first time, she’s safe at Borders Pet Rescue… but just as hope began to flicker in her eyes, Maggie was diagnosed with a tumour.

Because of its location and her age, surgery isn’t an option — and treatment would likely make her very sick. The kindest thing we can do for Maggie now is keep her pain-free, comfortable, and showered in love for whatever time she has left.

She is currently on daily pain relief, which is helping keep her comfortable and happy — and right now, the tumour is not affecting her quality of life. She’s enjoying her walks, soaking up attention, and wagging her tail at every kind soul she meets.
Maggie is a sweetheart — gentle, affectionate, and friendly with everyone. She’s good with other dogs and would be more than happy to share a quiet home with a calm canine friend.

What she needs now is something she’s never truly had: a home. A family. A soft place to land.

This is more than a rehoming appeal. It’s a chance to give a beautiful soul the retirement she’s always deserved. We’re looking for someone who can open their home and heart and say: You are safe now, and you are loved.

We know her time may be limited. But time isn’t measured in days when it’s filled with love — it’s measured in belly rubs, cozy naps, gentle cuddles, and the joy of simply knowing you matter.

If you can give Maggie the final chapter she so deeply deserves, please get in touch.

If you can’t offer Maggie a home but still want to help, you can donate towards her pain relief, medication, and care. Every little bit helps make her days more comfortable and full of love. Visit our page and click the donate button to support Maggie today.

🐾 After 13 years of being forgotten, Maggie just wants to be someone’s everything.

Please help us show her that even after all this time, she was always worth loving.

Every dog has its day — let’s make sure Maggie gets hers. 💔
