Thor in today to see our exotics vet Esmeralda for a health exam! We used an ultrasound scan to identify Thor is actually a female - you can see her ovaries in the scan (they look like grapes). Thor was perfectly behaved and we all enjoyed meeting her 🧡🩺🩻👩🏼‍⚕️

Did you know that dental disease is one of the biggest problems we see in our older patients? Are you nervous about your older pet having an anaesthetic? Bailey here is going to show you how we minimise risks to keep your older pets safe under anaesthesia. 🐾🖤

Bailey is 12.5yrs old and belongs to our RVN Brogan. He was in desperate need of dental work due to dental disease.

🐾Before we put Bailey under anaesthetic he had a full clinical exam by one our our Vet’s and then had pre anaesthetic blood work to check his organs were all working as they should be (they all were)!
🐾Bailey was then placed on fluids throughout his surgery to support his organs (all our parents under anaesthetic receive fluid therapy).
🐾Bailey was monitored closely by our RVN Hayley and we had him connected to our multi parameter machine to keep an even closer eye on his vital signs. Bailey had to have 9 teeth removed due to dental disease and tooth root abscesses.
🐾Bailey was closely monitored during recovery and stayed with us for the whole day on fluids. Bailey was a very brave boy and had an extremely stable anaesthic.
🐾He enjoyed some cooked chicken and soft food during his recovery and he is now feeling much better after having his painful teeth removed!

✔️ Fact: Regular boosters are essential throughout their lives to maintain protection.

Just like us humans, pets require regular vaccinations to stay safe from harmful diseases.

Here’s a handy reminder of the vaccination schedules for cats, dogs, and rabbits.

Today is World Mental Health Day, this is an opportunity to highlight the positive impact pets can have on mental well-being. ♥️

Pets can provide companionship, reduce stress, and offer emotional support, making them important for mental health. Their presence can help reduce feelings of loneliness and anxiety, provide comfort during difficult times, and encourage physical activity through walks and play. The unconditional love and companionship from pets can have a calming and positive effect on mental well-being. 🐶🐭🐱🐢🦔🦎🐍🐠🦜🐹
