It’s fledgling season! 🐣😍💕

Every year we get many phone calls from concerned people regarding baby birds out of the nest! We love that people care so much about our amazing wildlife 🥰but often we interrupt when it’s not necessary.

Please see/save/share this helpful flowchart from the RSPB about when we should and should not interfere 💕

PLEASE NOTE this flowchart doesn’t apply for our gorgeous PIGEONS! Pigeons look like pigeons when they’re ready to leave the nest so if you spot one who looks visibly young they probably need help ❤️

We need your help!

We’ve got 40 kittens at the moment, as well as all of the adult cats too! They’re eating us out of house and home!! 🙈. We need Whiskas kitten meat in jelly! So if anybody would be able to donate some that would be fantastic!!

And not to forget our 24 dogs! They all get a little bedtime treat in the evening and we are quickly running out! Dentistix, Meaty strips, rawhide alternative chews etc all go down well!

If anybody is able to donate, it would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏻🐶🐱

☀️We hope you’re all enjoying the sun safely but it can be a difficult time for our pets.☀️

We recommend walks very early in the morning or very late at night, and remember missing a walk never killed a dog but walking in heat has! Brachycephalic breeds (with squashed noses) will be struggling more so please make use of fans, cold floors, and keep them inside out the sun.

This time of year and as we head into summer, we will all be spending more time outside, meaning bee/wasp stings are more likely. If this happens, don’t panic! If you’re worried or see any signs of an allergic reaction then we are only a phone call away! 📞🐾💕

🦔 One of the most important things we can ALL do to help hedgehogs is make our gardens accessible to them! 🦔

Most gardens are enclosed by fences these days rather than hedges meaning wildlife can’t get in. Creating these holes in our fences means hedgehogs can explore to find new food and water sources, places to sleep and hibernate, and meet other hedgehogs! 🦔🐾💕

A Hutch Is Not Enough.

Rabbits need space to run, stretch up and explore every day, with housing that supports their natural behaviours, not limits them.

A hutch can play a role, but it should always be part of a much larger, enriched living area with rabbits having constant access to at least 3m x 2m of space, 1m high, all in one continuous area. Through this campaign, we’re working with retailers, vets and owners to raise standards and improve rabbit welfare together.

Small changes can make a big difference 🧡

It’s Hedgehog Awareness Week! 🦔 💕

Numbers of these lovely little characters have dramatically fallen in recent years, largely due to habitat destruction which brings less green and wild places, and more cars. 😢

But we can all do our bit to help them, whatever sized garden you have! Log piles, heaps of leafs, holes in fences all make a BIG difference as they attract food for hedgehogs and also space for them to explore/hibernate/have babies! 🐾💕

Please SLOW DOWN for our wildlife, who at this time of year are especially busy either preparing for or tending to their babies! 🐾

WARNING DISTRESSING PHOTO: we were very busy this morning when 2 injured badger calls came in. First one was in Coxbench lying at the side of the road. By the time our volunteers had got there, another kind person had picked him up and put him in her boot so he wasn't run over again. This poor badger had suffered severe head trauma and suffered a very bad eye injury. The second one had been reported to have terrible injuries, with a considerable amount of pelt missing and a rear leg injury, sadly he has disappeared but we have people out looking for him. Both these badgers had been hit and left for dead.
