November alert for pet owners 🎆🐾

Bonfire night is only two days away, and you may have even noticed some fireworks already. If you haven't prepared your pet for the noise yet, it's not too late to make a difference.

Here are some things to help keep them settled:

- A safe space with closed curtains, familiar bedding and toys

- A person nearby to keep them entertained and supervised

- White noise like a TV or radio to mask the sounds

- Calming aids if provided by your vet

We have had a cat brought into us after being involved in a collision on the road to Braunston.
We are very sorry to say, despite the efforts of the people that found him and our vet team, he sadly passed away shortly after being brought in.
He is a neutered male, all black, and appears to be elderly.
Unfortunately he did not have a collar or microchip so we have been unable to locate his owner. If you think he may be yours please contact us via email.

Rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds are especially sensitive to strong scents and poor air quality.

🐾 Today is World Animal Day – a lovely reminder to appreciate every animal in our lives, from dogs and cats to rabbits, guinea pigs, and everything in between.

Every pet, whatever their size or species, deserves excellent care and an extra moment of recognition today.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. Though it is not a happy topic, it is an important one.

In the U.K. su***de rates in the veterinary profession are 3 to 4 times higher than the general population. Our job can be so rewarding and has plenty of wonderful moments but sadly there is also a challenging side. Long working hours, the emotional toll of the job, and abuse from pet owners are some of the main contributors to these sad statistics. We are lucky to have lovely clients, however sadly even we have been on the receiving end of abusive language and behaviour. We understand that it can be an exceptionally stressful time when your pet is ill, but please be kind to the people that are trying to help 💛

Fortunately there are some fantastic charities and organisations, such as Vet Life and RCVS Mind Matters, that are there to support veterinary staff when they are struggling.

We also want to acknowledge that pet owners may also find themselves struggling, particularly when their pet is ill or passes away. The Blue Cross has a support service for anyone struggling with the loss of their pet.

So whether you are a veterinary professional or a pet owner, there are people to help and support you through difficult times. Please reach out to someone if you are struggling 💛
