🐶🕷️ Tick season is upon us🕷️🐶

Ticks are more than just a nuisance—they can carry serious diseases like Lyme and Ehrlichiosis. Here’s how to keep your dog safe and happy:
1. Check ’Em Out 🔍
After every walk (especially in grassy or wooded areas), part your dog’s fur and inspect the skin. Ticks love hiding in ears, between toes, and under collars.
2. Use Preventatives 💊🩹
Oral, topical, or collar-based tick preventatives can reduce the risk of bites by over 90%. Talk to your vet about the best option for your dog’s age, size, and lifestyle.
3. Garden Defence 🌳🚫
Keep grass trimmed and leaf litter cleared.
4. Remove Ticks Safely ✋🪡
If you find a tick:
• Grasp it close to the skin with fine-tipped tweezers
• Pull straight up with steady pressure, make sure the head is removed.
• Clean the area with antiseptic
• Never twist, crush, or burn the tick!
5. Know the Signs ⚠️
Watch for fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, or swollen joints. If you notice any changes, call your vet right away.

Our crazy Paddy ❤️

His back legs gave up before he did 💔

It’s taken me some time to get my thoughts together and I have even wondered whether to post this here. Due to his grumpy nature, he didn’t meet many dogs. Instead, he liked to be a lone wolf and didn’t want to make any furry friends on his walks.
He was amazing with people and would spend hours playing with the little people in our family, taking every toy out of his basket, for them to throw or play tug of war.
Losing 2 elderly dogs in 14 months is heartbreaking and difficult to adjust to. We’ve never not had a dog in the house and our son doesn’t know a house without a four legged friend, so to walk into an empty house that doesn’t have paw prints on the floor or dog hair on EVERYTHING is difficult. I’m still listening out for their barks or waiting to hear them when I wake up but it’s not there.
We will miss you Paddy, you were one of a kind.
For everyone reading this, if your out walking your dog/s and you see another lone wolf like Paddy, who doesn’t want to make friends with your dog, it doesn’t make them a bad dog, just smile at them and think yeah I get it mate. Some days I don’t want to say hello to every human that walks past me either!
So this post, is for all the lone grumpy dogs out there like Paddy. He really was a cracking family dog, who we loved very much and miss every single day 😢
