Myth buster:

Dogs that wag their tails are happy!

Dogs wag their tail for many reasons. It can be a sign of happiness but also of being alert. Dogs will also wag their tail while barking and showing aggression. It always has to be seen in context and looking at the rest of the body language.

A gentle wag is generally a happy wag but a quick wagging tail, thatโ€™s high up, maybe even a flipping end of the tail, could be a dog thatโ€™s not comfortable. Definitely, if itโ€™s combined with a tense body.

Is your dog protected from lungworm?

Dogs can get lungworm from eating slugs or snails. Itโ€™s a parasite that travels through their blood vessels and affects the lungs and heart.

Symptoms could be coughing, low energy, weight loss, vomiting and no appetite.

How can you prevent this?
Watch your dog, if they like to eat/ pick up things in the garden or on walks. Stop them drinking standing water from puddles or other standing water. The best preventative though is worming treatment from your vet.

With the wet weather, there will be more slugs and snails around, so be careful.

If Iโ€™m doubt, please consult your vet.

Today Iโ€™d like to tell you about something I use for puppys and new dogs, especially nervous dogs and rescue.
Itโ€™s free work. Free work involves different stations with a variety of textures, heights, smells and treats. I often use licky matts, snufflematt, boxes, towels and anything I have to hand. I also like to put grooming tools like brushes, nail clippers and scissors in between the station and watch the dogs reaction.

This offers the dog choice and engages their nose. It helps me to look at a dogs movement, if heโ€™s stiff or prefers not to lift his head in a box etc. could there be pain?

One benefit is that it creates a positive atmosphere with no pressure, so the dog should feel relaxed. It also promotes calmness and itโ€™s great to release energy during the groom, when we have a break. (Movement helps dogs to process things better)

I really think free work is s great tool and the dogs seem to enjoy it โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Our Story

Iโ€™m offering dog grooming, with vegan shampoos on a one on one basis. No crates or cage dryers. I groom in a calm salon, with a holistic approach, which suits even nervous dogs. In some cases I like to use Reiki or T-Touch to help the dogs relax and be happy while in my care.

With over 16 years experience, I also offer dog walking in the Crewe area, including Wistaston and Willaston. Group walks or one on one walks are possible.

Last but not least I also offer petsitting. If you go on holiday and prefer your pet being looked after in the comfort of their own home, that can be arranged. This mainly suits Rabbits, guinea pigs, cats etc. but please contact me for any inquiries.
