Puppy introduction
It is important to introduce your puppy to grooming at any early age. Did you know the grooming process can help form a bond between you and your new puppy, it will also help your pup adjust to being handled and brushed.
In the past and still now I’ve had lots of customers call to ask for their month old puppy to come in for first grooming. There has been many occasions the dog has been matted. This means they lost out on having the gentle introduction therefore leaving the puppy associating
The grooming process with negative feelings and emotions which are difficult or even impossible to undo.
The ideal time to introduce puppies to grooming at around 12 weeks (so after last injections). My aim is to make the whole process as stress free for you and your pup as possible.
Introduce them to the groomer as we as groomers spend a lot of time with your pup. They become a very special part of our lives and we do to theirs. They need to feel safe and become aware of the sights and sounds of the grooming salon. Know what it’s like to stand or sit on a grooming table for a long time and hear hairdryer, clipper and scissor noises.
This is why I offer the puppy package to help ease them into the process.
The puppy package is a 4 step program. Each appointment is approximately 4 weeks apart with the final step when puppy is age 6 months ( this does vary).
You also will receive a copy of ouch. This is a practical guide to puppy biting a helpful and informative little booklet.
