Lumley dog training is a friendly & personal service tailored to meet the needs of you & your dog. I have 18 years experience in training and handling different dog breeds, ages, characteristics and needs. Training methods are positive and rewarding for both dog and handler, using Repetition,

Association & Reward methods which is the foundation of all good dog training. Won't come back when off the leash? Lacking in manners, confidence or is timid? Constantly pulling when you go for a walk? If any of these sound familiar and you would like help and guidance with any problems then don't hesitate to get in touch. I provide one to one training sessions which are subject to availability. I charge £60 per session depending on how far I have to travel, but one session is usually sufficient providing you continue with my training techniques. Young Bruno came to me with some major dog reactivity issues. He didnt have the best start in life, and was rescued by a lovely young couple who reached out to me recognising they needed some help, and were willing to put the hard work in. Bruno was presented to me wearing a muzzle, as his owners wanted to keep everyone safe, including Bruno. I firstly worked on leash work, and within minutes took the muzzle off. His owners had to recognise advanced warning signs in the dogs body language which made him trigger or react toward other dogs. Skills and techniques were taught to his owners to correct any unwanted behaviours, to which the dog responded brilliantly. His owners had to take back control of the walk, and display a leadership role so that Bruno could trust that his owners could deal with any given situation, so that he didnt have to and could learn to relax!
We showed that changes can happen really quickly within the one session. Keep up the good work guys, I hear youre all doing well.
Good job!

Good session with Eddie the Cocker Spaniel. His owners main problem was the leash work. Eddie clearly dictated the walk , pulling his owners from side to side, then driving forward through his harness. With a couple of changes made and new techniques adopted, his owners took control of the walk resulting in no more pulling and a greater experience for all. Foundations of recall also worked on. Star of the day was young Emily, who handled Eddie brilliantly. Well done everyone!

Late evening training session today to avoid the heat with this young Malinois bitch Kali. Her owners were struggling with leashwork and had lost all confidence in letting her off leash which really contributed to the dogs frustration resulting in her being muzzled after transfering that frustration towards her owner. Kali is not a bad dog! She didnt warrant a muzzle, just a leadership role model in the shape of her owners. I took the muzzle off and got Kali into a nice flowing walk, adding structure and not allowing her to lead or dictate. We went back to basics with long line training for recall work, to which she was brilliant. It was lovely to see her stretching her legs and enjoying herself. Skills and techniques taught. Enjoy your walks guys!

Had a great session with Lilly the Retriever today. Sadly for the first 5 years of her life she was used as a brood bitch, being kept in a compound before being offered up for rehoming some 3 months ago. Luckily, her new owner Anne gave Lilly the opportunity to be the most fantastic dog. We worked on leash pulling and minor reactivity towards other dogs, along with manners around food. The happiest moment for me was to see her running off leash for the first time, with a few zoomies in there before returning to her owner upon command. Keep up the good work Anne, and thank you!

This is Olly, the biggest and softest fox red Lab I've ever seen. His owners were struggling with on leash walks due to his size. This was rectified within 20 minutes into the session, then teaching his owners the skills and techniques to build on what we had achieved on the day. Recall also worked on!
Great dog and a great family!

BEFORE AND AFTER- Monty the 10 month old cockerpoo came to me as he constantly pulled on the leash , and due to the lack of leadership his owner didnt have the confidence to let him off leash in public. Once we took back the walk and added some more structure, we then worked on the foundations or recall. First on a long line , then taking the line off letting him run free and feel fullfilled. Monty and Irene were both brilliant. Well done guys!

Big boy Max the Retriever came to me to improve his recall and leash work. By changing his collar and putting more leadership skills into his owners, all this was achieved within the session making walks and off leash time much more rewarding.

Good session with Fritz this week, a lovely 10 month old Doberman! He had been sent away for residential training down in Leeds for a couple of weeks, but it wasnt very successful and still came back with recall and leash management issues.
Within the session we put things in place enabling the owners to walk Fritz without pulling, and getting him off leash with perfect recall every time. Shout out to Will to handled Fritz brilliantly. Well done!
