Racehorse Rescue Centre

Racehorse Rescue Centre We create innovative programmes that other charities follow, using rescued horses to change lives. It is an Approved Rescue and Re-training Centre by the RoR.

The Racehorse Rescue Centre (RRC) is a registered charity No. 1150864 based in Carlisle, serving the whole UK. By rescuing ex racehorses we give them a secure safe environment and the opportunity to move onto new careers once they have finished racing. We are not just a Rescue Centre
We provide free programmes to disadvantaged groups throughout the UK to help them develop their skills in the comm

unity such as injured soldiers, probation services, disabled, employment services, colleges and therapy for people suffering from trauma or depression. We are 100% volunteer run so any help goes direct to the horses and not on salaries. The Racehorse Rescue Centre works with the community through its highly motivated volunteer team. Horses that come to the Centre are given time to go back to their roots and allowed to socialise with the other horses to build up development and confidence. We retrain ex racehorses to their best ability and find new caring homes that will secure their future. Other horses that work well with our programmes will stay at the Centre to help educate the community in the importance of how equine therapy can help disadvantaged groups. We have other older horses that are harder to re-home and these will stay with us if no homes can be found. The RRC do not sell horses on and keeps ownership for the rest of their lives. The Racehorse Rescue Centre relies on donations from the caring public, companies and its trustees. Any funding is spent directly on the horses and to help secure their future. The trustees have been rescuing ex racehorses for the past 25 years and started the charity in 2010 to help create awareness of the problem and to get the community more involved. We believe it has a bright future ahead thanks to the hard work the volunteers put in and with the support of the community throughout the world we hope to continue to grow.

Horses working on the Isle of Man's horse tramway have been given the day off to cool off in the sea on a trip to the beach.Elodie and Maggie were led onto the sand at Douglas harbour for a frolic in the shallows during the summer heatwave.Staff at the historical Douglas Bay Horse Tramway said the "beautiful" animals, aged eight and 10, enjoyed their well-deserved cooldown. The horse-pulled trams along Douglas promenade are set to celebrate their 150th birthday next year.

Elodie and Maggie, who work on the Isle of Man's horse tramway, get a day off for a sea dip.

Not much action from the owner!
Think he will be charged with not keeping a dog under control in a public area and assault on a police horse and the dog could be put to sleep because of a stupid owner

Update: There were two horses in the trailer. It was a diesel engine fire not electric car. All are safe.
We passed this yesterday at the roundabout at the bottom of Dissington on the way to Whitehaven. The owners had managed to unhook the trailer and move it to safety.

Emergency services called after car towing horsebox catches fire

Copeland Police attended the incident yesterday, Saturday July 5. to what would be every horse person’s nightmare – a vehicle catching fire whilst towing a horse trailer.

“We are more than delighted to say all were okay thanks to the quick thinking of the owners and fast deployment of Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.”

It issued the following advice:

Phone 999 immediately
Remove horses from the vehicle & move to a place of safety
Do not return to the vehicle ( no matter how many saddles you have on board)
Stay a safe distance away

Please support us and give the horses a voice by following us.

You can also support our work by joining our Lottery (U.K. residents only) at just £10 per month you could win up to £25,000 and you will also receive a free Gourmet Society Card worth £35 giving you up to 50% off food and drink.
