⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR DOG OWNERS IN CARLISLE ⚠️

We have recently been made aware of confirmed cases of canine parvovirus (parvo) around the cumbria area.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease, particularly in puppies and unvaccinated dogs. Symptoms can include severe vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, dehydration, and loss of appetite.

To help protect our local dog population, we are strongly encouraging:

🐾 Puppies under 12 months of age should receive an additional DHP vaccination, even if they have already completed their primary course.

🐾 Dogs with lapsed vaccinations to take advantage of our Vaccine Amnesty and book an appointment to get their protection back up to date.

Vaccination remains the most effective way to protect your dog against parvovirus and reduce the risk of further spread within our community.

If you are unsure of your dog's vaccination status or would like to discuss the most appropriate protection for your pet, please contact the practice and our team will be happy to help.

WE HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN CASES OF PARVO IN OUR AREA.
This is often fatal to pups, causing severe gastroenteritis and heart disease.

IF YOU HAVE A PUP AGED 4-14 MONTHS OF AGE we advise coming in for an early booster.

Pups less than 4 months old that have completed a puppy vaccination course, and adults over 14 months old that are fully vaccinated, do not need anything additional.
