Liz is our new RVN and we are delighted to have her on board !
She is very calm with the cats too and has already made some great feline friends in our patients

🌟 🩺 Meet Liz our new RVN! 🩺 🌟

Liz has always loved animals , although her career in the veterinary industry did not start until much later.

She previously completed a degree in Computer Games Design, which enabled her to move to Sweden to study as part of a European exchange programme. Liz completed her studies at the height of the Covid pandemic and despite initially enjoying her love of gaming, her love of animals was higher and Liz decided to pursue a career change into the veterinary industry. Liz followed her heart and she went on to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2024.

🦜 As a nurse, Liz has always shown a keen interest in exotic animals (especially birds!) and is currently studying towards an additional Certificate in exotic animal nursing.

Prior to working at Origin Vets Clinic, Liz worked in a large companion animal hospital where she developed her skills and confidence in emergency critical care and theatre nursing.

🐦Liz's favourite animal is a pigeon, and her goal in life would be to be able to rescue and rehabilitate unwell and injured pigeons that are brought into the practice!

🎮🏒Outside of nursing, Liz enjoys playing couch co-op games with her partner, watching the Cardiff Devil's ice hockey team, reading fantasy novels and going for long walks whilst playing Pokémon Go!

Liz has slotted in so well and is already head over heels meeting and treating her first (owned) pigeon called Beatrice!

Such wonderful news for British conservation for one of Britain’s rarest mammals.
Scottish Wildcats are absolutely beautiful and a very timid species. They are a different species to the domestic cat that we
Know. Many people have never heard of Scottish Wildcats because they are so rare.
Chester Zoo has been part of a big project to help re establish them in the wild and for the second year there have been litters of wild kittens born.

Well done all involved in this wonderful project

Beautiful Izzy came to visit Dr Sophie this week to have her first health check and vaccination 🩺

We believe that it is important to allow your pet to acclimatise to their surroundings and so you can see Izzy enjoying some Katkin nibbles before she has her examination. She was so relaxed she didn’t even notice her vaccination!

♥️

🥰 Cute kitten overload alert 🥰

Ok so every who knows Dr Sophie knows that she loves all animals and particularly adores her rabbits but did you know she also has a secret love for ragdoll cats ? She has one of her own called Teddy, who is a rescue cat from one of the local charities and reports he is the dopiest creature to walk this planet.

Origin Vets Clinic works closely with several organisations for rescues but also has started working closely with a few select breeders who are breeding with careful selection of kittens with parents of genetically clear testing (yes ragdolls have certain conditions such as heart disease that they can pass on to their kittens so it is important to test the parents for this)

These beautiful kittens came this week for their first vaccinations and microchips alongside flea and worming treatment. They all received a clean bill of health. They will be back in a few weeks for their second vaccination too.

Did you know we have kitten packs and that the kittens can go straight into our health plans which start from £10 a month to cover vaccinations flea and worming treatment alongside health checks and nursing visits too each year ?

Visit https://www.originvetsclinic.co.uk/cat-health-plans for further information on the plans

These kittens are all reversed and will be soon going to their new homes. Alongside reputable breeders there are also many rescues that have kittens available too and it is important to choose what suits your circumstances best.

Either way, rescue kitten or chosen from a litter we will support and guide you through the care of your new kitten. 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐱 🐾

Beautiful Theodore came in to see us this week after he was a feeling a little under the weather.
He is an elderly gentleman and is currently in longterm foster with Forgotten Felines which are one of the many charities we work with.
Theodore makes him self at home and always comes to greet Dr Sophie and check in her work to ensure she has written his notes correctly !
