🥰 Cute kitten overload alert 🥰

Ok so every who knows Dr Sophie knows that she loves all animals and particularly adores her rabbits but did you know she also has a secret love for ragdoll cats ? She has one of her own called Teddy, who is a rescue cat from one of the local charities and reports he is the dopiest creature to walk this planet.

Origin Vets Clinic works closely with several organisations for rescues but also has started working closely with a few select breeders who are breeding with careful selection of kittens with parents of genetically clear testing (yes ragdolls have certain conditions such as heart disease that they can pass on to their kittens so it is important to test the parents for this)

These beautiful kittens came this week for their first vaccinations and microchips alongside flea and worming treatment. They all received a clean bill of health. They will be back in a few weeks for their second vaccination too.

Did you know we have kitten packs and that the kittens can go straight into our health plans which start from £10 a month to cover vaccinations flea and worming treatment alongside health checks and nursing visits too each year ?

Visit https://www.originvetsclinic.co.uk/cat-health-plans for further information on the plans

These kittens are all reversed and will be soon going to their new homes. Alongside reputable breeders there are also many rescues that have kittens available too and it is important to choose what suits your circumstances best.

Either way, rescue kitten or chosen from a litter we will support and guide you through the care of your new kitten. 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐱 🐾

Beautiful Theodore came in to see us this week after he was a feeling a little under the weather.
He is an elderly gentleman and is currently in longterm foster with Forgotten Felines which are one of the many charities we work with.
Theodore makes him self at home and always comes to greet Dr Sophie and check in her work to ensure she has written his notes correctly !

🐾 Meet the adorable Pipsqueak 🐾

Pipsqueak came in to our clinic for her first vaccinations and to join our wellness plan which will cover him for his annual health check, including his vaccinations, and any required flea or worming treatment as well as his microchip and £5 off his neutering too. It also covers unlimited checks with our wonderful registered veterinary nurses to to discuss anything from diet to weight to dental concerns.

He is already a bundle of joy and it was a pleasure to meet him and his family ! We look forward to many more cuddles with this little chap as he grows !

🐾 Mila and Oli came in this week to meet Dr Sophie after they moved up to the area from Devon.

They had a rather lovely carrier that meant they are pushed on wheels which is super cat friendly and has plenty of ventilation too. It even has harness clips inside to keep them extra secure when travelling.

Whilst Oli has settled in well into the new home, Mila has found things a little more uneasy. A full physical exam confirmed she was ok and so Dr Sophie discuss various calming techniques to help her settle in.

They are some of the many cats we have registered at Origin vets Clinic and they certainly seemed to enjoy a fuss when they came in 🐾

Our little foster kitten has a name thanks to you wonderful followers. Her name is Agatha or Aggie as we often call her when she is ready for her food !

Have a look at her cute ears as she is feeding !

As kitten season is amongst us , and as sweet as she is, we do advise to neuter your cats to prevent unwanted litters and spread of disease. Yes kittens like Agatha are very cute, but they do take a lot of time and support as they grow and homes need to be found for them or you will end up with another 4-7 cats to care for. That’s a lot of mouths to feed !

🍼 We've become parents again! 🍼

This week we welcomed our newest hand-rear to the family.
This gorgeous girl is approximately 3 weeks old, and we are pleased to report she is thriving.

But there's just one problem... she doesn't have a name.

This is where you come in. We need your help to come up with the purrrfect name. Post your suggestion in the comments and we'll ask our team to pick their favourite.

Over the next few months our team will be working tirelessly around the clock to care for this little one

Did you know?

🍼 Kittens need to be bottle fed every 2-4 hours including overnight. Our little girl will have an average of 7-10 meals a day.

🍜Kittens will begin to try solid food from 3-4 weeks of age and should be fully weaned by 7-8 weeks of age.

👁 Kittens are born with their eyes closed. Their eyes usually begin to open 10 - 14 days after birth.

🌞 Kittens like to be warm as they are unable to regulate their own body temperature. Their environmental temperature should be 22 - 26℃, though new-born kittens may require it additional warmth.

💩 Kittens under the age of 3 weeks are unable to pass urine or faeces without stimulation. This is usually achieved by the mother licking an area under the kittens tail. For kittens without a mother, we use damp cotton wool to mimic this behaviour. Kittens need to be toileted after even meal. Litter training can begin as early as 3 weeks of age once the kitten can toilet without stimulation.

⚖ Kittens need to be weighed daily. In the first 7-10days they should double in weight and steadily increase weight thereafter.
