Origin Vets Clinic For further information please visit www.originvetsclinic.co.uk Welcome to our page. It is one of the few independent clinics in Cardiff.
(1)

Origin Vets Clinic was founded in order to provide a professional veterinary service exclusively for rabbits, small mammals, avian and exotic pets within Cardiff and the surrounding area. By being independent, the business is able to reach out to clients at a very personal level and also able to adapt to change in times quickly. Many of you may know Dr Sophie Jenkins from our sister business Origin

Vets. Sophie provided peripatetic veterinary services for Origin Vets since 2013. However, the time came for the business to grow within the Cardiff area and Sophie founded Origin Vets Clinic. We are thrilled to say that Dr Sophie Jenkins will still work closely with Dr Lance Jepson and Dr Tom Bailey of Origin Vets. We know that many of our clients will travel between us and we will continue to work in conjunction with one another. We firmly believe that our expertise in various areas will benefit by sharing it with one another. Our page is here to help you keep in touch with what we at Origin Vets Clinic are doing. Unfortunately we cannot comment or give advice/diagnoses via this page. Kind regardsOrigin Vets Clinic Ltd

A day of little and large !

🐇 First up Columbus and Bluebells- they are big buns weighing over 10kg between them! Both are rescues and are real characters ! They have been coming to see Dr Sophie for five years for vaccines and had a clean bill of health much to the delight of their watchful owner

🐰 Second up we have newbies to the Origin Vets Clinic patients , these are just 11 week old siblings called Mabel and Milo and they are adorable ! Their owner saught out a rabbit savvy vet for their care. They have had a full exam and their Myxo RHD plus vaccination today. We also ran through handling husbandry diet , microchipping, and insurance plus booked in their second vaccine for yurvac RHD and their neutering too (so important !)
These two only just hit 1kg between them !

How adorable are these two girls?!

Hope and Amber came in to see Dr Sophie Jenkins today for their annual health check and we are pleased to say they have a clean bill of health.

Hope is quite confident but Amber is a little more nervous so Dr Sophie examined them both next to each other and used pet remedy sprayed towels to help keep them calm

Give them some love this warm evening !

💚 Vet Nurse Awareness Month 💚

We talked about our fantastic nurses Last week and here they are :

💚 Claire, Liz and Sam 💚

They are truly wonderful nurses with gentle natures and beautiful souls that give everything to keep your pet comfortable and calm whilst with us in the clinic.

They take bloods, place intravenous cannulas, monitor anaesthetics, take X-rays, perform wound care including stitch ups, intensely nurse sick patients, clean, pack kits, do stock ordering and control, endless admin, provide nurse consultations and they do all this and so much more with such grace and professionalism.

They support you as owners when you are grieving during difficult and sad times of goodbyes

They advice when you need support of husbandry , diets or bonding or new pets

They support each other and the team as a whole.

They are without a doubt an amazing group of women who are part of an outstanding professionalism that is to be a Registered Veterinary Nurse

Give them a standing innovation because they deserve it and so much more.

Hats off to you Claire Liz and Sam 👏 👏 👏

Many of you will be familiar with our three fantastic nurses, Claire, Liz and Sam, but you may not be familiar with all aspects of their role.

Veterinary nursing is a highly skilled, varied and demanding role. For every patient journey, our nurses will be heavily involved in or leading their care.

In a single day our nurses can be taking, performing and analysing lab samples, scrubbing in to theatre to assist with surgery, managing all aspects of peri-operative care, running nursing clinics, providing wound management and emergency care, taking radiographs, monitoring anaesthesia, supporting patients and owners throughout treatment... The list goes on!

Alongside this, they also juggle non-clinical tasks, from contributing to patient welfare initiatives, infection control, client education, stock mangement and generally supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Throughout all of this, Claire, Liz and Sam lead with professionalism, compassion and empathy and we couldn't be more proud of them.

🎉 🥳 A very happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough 🥳 🎉

An absolute inspiration to us all and one of the leading reasons that our very own Dr Sophie Jenkins became captivated by a love and care of animals of all shapes and sizes

Have a very happy birthday and we thank you for everything you have done and given to conservation over so many many years.

Life on Earth really has been a lot more colourful with you to show us the wonders of nature

It’s Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month!

Throughout May, we’ll be highlighting our fantastic nurses and the critical work they do every single day.

We’ll also be sharing information on how to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse and how the profession continues to grow and develop.

It's the 1st of May, which means it's officially Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM)!

This year’s campaign theme of ‘Compassion and Empathy’ will recognise how these traits are demonstrated by veterinary nurses every day, whether towards their patients or the people around them, and underpinning the skilled care they provide. VNAM celebrates what it means to be a veterinary nurse – raising public awareness of the significant contributions made by veterinary nurses to animal health and welfare, and that of the public too.

Message from BVNA President, Sarah Holliday:

"I am delighted to launch this year’s VNAM, which also follows my Presidential theme of ‘Compassion and Empathy’. Throughout May, we will be highlighting how these qualities are integral to everything veterinary nurses do – from providing dedicated and skilled care to animals of all species, supporting animal caregivers in sometimes difficult and emotional situations, and offering a listening ear to colleagues. Often, this goes on behind the scenes; VNAM is a crucial opportunity to put a spotlight on the incredible work carried out by veterinary nurses every day."

Find out more about VNAM here, and how you can get involved this year; https://loom.ly/LcNzlC4

❤️ When Clive met Clarna ❤️

Clive came in February this year as a referral. We are pleased to say he was promptly treated and is all signed off by our team.

🐰 As part of his referral a full husbandry was discussed and it was found that young Clive was living on his own. Our team work endlessly with owners to include education in patient companionship where species appropriate, and Clive’s owners really listened.

💉 Clive came back to us with his new companion Clarna. They are fully bonded already as Clive is neutered. Clarna has had her vaccines and will be neutered in the next few weeks

💞 How lovely to see these young rabbits finding somebunny to love and only with all thanks to the knowledge and support of our wonderful team at Origin Vets Clinic.
