🐾 Meet the Team Monday – Cat 🐾

Say hello to Cat, one of our experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses!

Cat has been a qualified RVN for an impressive 17 years and joined the team at Church Street Vets just over a year ago. While she's usually based at Church Street, you'll also find her at our Clarendon Street clinic most Wednesdays.

Cat loves being part of such a friendly and supportive team, where everyone works so well together to provide excellent patient care. She especially values the team's commitment to continually learning, improving and embracing new knowledge — something she believes is essential for delivering the very best care.

When she's not at work, Cat likes to keep busy! At home, she cares for 3 cats, 4 rabbits and 5 chickens, as well as tending to her allotment. She's also usually in the middle of a DIY project or two, often involving repairs or improvements to one of her vehicles.

Cat brings a huge amount of experience, enthusiasm and practical knowledge to the team, and we're lucky to have her as part of the Clarendon Street and Church Street family. If you spot her in clinic, don't hesitate to say hello! 🐾

🐾 Meet the Team Monday 🐾

It's time to meet Nancy!

Nancy first started working at Clarendon Street in 1999, shortly after Patrick joined the practice. Having recently graduated with a degree in Animal Behaviour, Nancy was working at Woodgreen Animal Shelter when she brought in a poorly kitten to see Patrick. Patrick clearly liked her style, and she has worked at the practice on and off ever since!

Nancy has worked in a variety of roles at the surgery, but now spends much of her time updating the website, writing our monthly newsletters and organising our outings to various local community events.

She loves the close knit team we have across the two clinics, likening us to a family with all its joys and idiosyncrasies. Nancy really enjoys chatting to our clients, many of whom are also friends!

When not at work, Nancy enjoys a variety of hobbies — spending time with her family, which includes dog Josie, 4 cats and 3 chickens, lino cutting and, most recently, getting out and about on her new narrowboat, Marigold🚤.

Next time you see Nancy, stop to say hi — she’ll always be happy to have a chat 👋.

🐾 Meet the Team Monday 🐾

Say hello to Amber, one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses!

Amber qualified as an RVN back in 2016 and has been part of the Clarendon Street team since 2022. More recently, she can also be found at our Church Street clinic for one day a week.

She’s a self-confessed lover of English Bulldogs — although really, any large squishy-faced breed has a special place in her heart! 🐶

Outside of work, Amber enjoys curling up with a good book, taking on ‘slightly questionable’ sporting challenges like Hyrox competitions, and hiking up big hills, such as Scafell Pike, whenever she gets the chance.

In the clinic, anaesthesia and imaging are definitely her thing. She loves the technical side of nursing and takes real pride in helping keep patients safe and comfortable throughout their procedures.

You’ll usually find Amber busy behind the scenes, although she’s always happy to stop for a chat — especially if there’s a squishy-faced dog nearby! Amber is a valued part of the team, and we’re very lucky to have her! 🐾

Dear clients,

On Sunday 17th May at 3:00pm, we will be joining a special service at St Andrew’s Church in Stapleford, to give thanks for the animals who enrich our lives with companionship, comfort, and joy.

Whether or not you consider yourself religious, you are warmly invited to attend with your dog, provided they are calm and would enjoy the social occasion.

To help keep the environment safe and relaxed for everyone, we kindly ask that no other species of animals are brought into the church. However, we would be delighted to include photographs of other pets so they may still be remembered and blessed during the service.

We would also love to receive photographs of pets who are no longer with us, or those who may be in need of a little extra support and care at this time.

Please can you send your images with your pets name via PetsApp, or to: [email protected]

We recognise that faith means different things to different people, but we hope this invitation will be welcomed by all, as the church is, above all, a place of community, compassion, and togetherness.

We hope to see you there.

🐾 Meet the Team Monday – Sue 🐾

Sue has been part of the practice for many years, in fact she first handed Patrick a scalpel back in 2005!

You’ll usually find Sue in the Clarendon Street clinic early in the mornings and last thing in the evening, although she’ll often pop in at other times too — normally for a chat, to check in on everyone, or to drop off something nice to eat to keep the team going. Living so close we are lucky we don’t have to go a day without seeing her.

She’s also very popular with our practice cat, Samba, while Samba’s daughter, Lypsy, eventually decided to pack her bags and live with Sue permanently 🐱

Outside of the surgery, Sue keeps herself busy running a small publishing company as well as a brilliant B&B, so she’s definitely not someone who enjoys sitting still for long.

Sue has always been a huge part of the practice, and clients and staff alike always enjoy seeing her whenever she’s in the clinic. 🐾
