SPECIAL HOMES NEEDED FOR SHY CATS -We have cats, young and old, that are not well socialised pets. But are ideal for homes that don't mind being hands off and maybe looking for some rodent deterrence in exchange for giving them food and shelter and keeping an eye out for them. Shelter could be a barn, garage or shed. Or a part of the house where they can do their own thing and not be stressed by human interaction.

A kitten has been handed in to Village vets in Milton. Not chipped but friendly and apparently healthy so it's likely that she's accidentally got out.

Please contact the vets if she's yours (evidence of ownership required)

Update: kitten was found in The Sycamores in Milton (very close to the surgery). He's actually a boy.

Do you know what to do if you see a dog alone in a vehicle during hot weather? 🐶 🥵

A few days ago, a passer-by heard barking coming from inside a van at a car park in Peterborough.
On closer inspection, they could see a dog, with only a tiny gap for air where the window had been wound down a little.
Temperatures were in the late 20s that afternoon - dangerously high for dogs in vehicles 🥵 🐶

As they glanced to see if the owner was around, they noticed the barking was starting to wane.
The dog was getting weaker - they dialled 999 👮🏻 🚔
Thankfully, the dog was unharmed and the attending officers managed to locate the owner and give strong words of advice.

We might be out of a heatwave now, but temperatures are still warm. According to the RPSCA, if it's 22 degrees outside, a car can reach 47 degrees in just one hour.

⚠️ Heatstroke can be fatal for dogs. If you notice a dog alone in a vehicle on a hot day, call 999 immediately 📱👮🏻
