Important Health Update ❤️

Following my latest hospital appointment this week I’ve been strongly advised by my specialist team to take a few more weeks away from work to allow my wound the best possible chance to heal properly.

Although I experienced a slight setback last week there are now encouraging signs that healing has finally started. However the new skin is extremely delicate and fragile. I’ve been advised that if I return to work or resume my normal routine too soon I’m likely to undo the progress that’s been made and could end up back where I started.

With this in mind I have had to make the difficult decision to clear my diary for the whole of August so I can focus entirely on my recovery.

I am attending every other week day hospital appointments, during the last week of August I’ll have another review and together with my specialist team we’ll assess my healing and decide when it’s safe for me to return to work.

When I do return it will be a gradual process. For the first few weeks I’ll only be working one, or possibly two dogs per day depending on the breed coat type and the physical demands of the groom. My priority has to be ensuring I return safely and don’t risk another setback.

I know this will be disappointing for many of you and I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience this causes. But to prevent anymore time off like this I need ti focus on me and my healing this time.

I’m determined to come back properly healed rather than rushing back too soon and finding myself in the same position again just days later.

Yummy Homemade White Fish & Goat Milk Porridge with added bananas & blueberries. Nice and gentle on the crews tummy’s (especially Dana’s as she’s had a delicate tummy during her season)
Pre breakfast they also had alittle raw carrot & some goat sausage pate

I’ve recently started using some new pre- and post-hand stripping products, and I have to say I’m really impressed with them.

The entire Something to Bark About range is made using natural, organic ingredients, making the products safe to use not only on our dogs but on us humans too.

After receiving a nasty dog bite while running a workshop a couple of weeks ago, I was left with three puncture wounds—two on the back of my hand and one in the palm where the skin had broken. My hand was incredibly sore and bruised so I contacted the lovely lady behind the Something to Bark About range to ask which product she would recommend.

She suggested the Bark Calm spray, which is designed as a post-strip skin calming spray. I sprayed the injured areas 3–4 times a day and, nearly two weeks later, I’m genuinely impressed with the results. My hand has remained soothed throughout, the broken skin has almost completely healed, I’ve experienced no dryness, and, importantly, no infection developed.

I’ve always been happy to recommend the Something to Bark About products for dogs, but after my own experience, I’ll also be recommending them for humans and will certainly continue using them myself.

Sometimes the best recommendations come from personal experience.
