We've had lots of new followers (and plenty of new furry faces!) join The Country Mutt lately, so... a warm, waggy welcome! 👋🐶
Whether you're new around here or one of our regulars who happened to miss the mailman(!), we thought we'd explain how we do things a little differently when the weather turns hot.
At The Country Mutt, every decision starts with one simple question:
➡️ "What's best for the dogs?"
When temperatures climb, we adapt everything we do to keep our four-legged guests safe, comfortable and happy. But don't worry... it doesn't mean we all have an afternoon snooze! 😴
Instead, hot weather means:
❄️ Cooler spaces for play, rest... and most things in between (hurrah for air conditioning!)
🧩 Swapping zoomies for calmer, brain-exercising enrichment.
💧 Plenty of fresh water to drink... and splash about in.
🌳 Carefully managed outdoor time for those all-important toilet breaks and fresh air.
🚐 And, when absolutely necessary, making the difficult decision to pause our collection and drop-off service when temperatures reach ~30°C or above.
Daycare itself can often continue safely, but some parts of our routine simply need to change.
Our usual booking policy also remains in place during periods of hot weather (unless we're forced to close completely). Your dog's place has been reserved especially for them, and our staffing is carefully planned around every booking to ensure we can provide the level of care every dog deserves.
Where we're able to - and where capacity allows - we may offer customers the opportunity to move a heat-affected booking to another day. It's never something we can guarantee, but whenever we do - we'll communicate with you directly about this, as an option.
At the end of the day, we'll always make the decision we'd want someone else to make if it were our dog.
Thank you for trusting us with your four-legged family members. It's a responsibility we never take lightly.
