A safe place isn't a training failure. It's a good plan. 💚

Curtains closed, familiar bedding, background music and a choice of where to settle. Some dogs want company; others want a quiet den. Don't drag them out to ‘get used to it’.

Let them choose.

Not every frightened dog shakes. Some hide. Some bark. Some pant, lip lick or refuse to go out. 🐶

On Bonfire Night, watch your dog's behaviour and let that guide what you do. If they're struggling, lower demands and offer a quieter space.

We don't need to wait for panic to help.

What fills a dog's bucket? Not just the obvious scary stuff. 🪣

Busy rooms, unexpected bangs, visitors, poor sleep and changes to routine can all add to their load. One dog may cope with something that another finds difficult.

Look at the whole day, not just the last reaction.

👉 Save and share with someone learning dog body language.

Want to help your dog's bucket empty? Think less pressure, not more entertainment. 🪣💚

Quiet time, familiar routines, choice, sniffing and rest all have a place. Keep an eye on what your dog actually finds relaxing.

A calmer day can be a very productive day for your dog.

👉 Save this for busy weeks.

‘Don't comfort them or you'll make it worse.’ No. 💚

Fear isn't a naughty behaviour. If your dog comes to you during fireworks, offer calm reassurance. If they choose a hiding spot instead, respect that choice.

We can support our dogs without forcing interaction.

Safety is kindness. And sometimes kindness looks like giving a dog permission to say no. 💚

Not every dog wants to be touched, visited or included in everything. Read the little signs, respect their space and help the whole family understand.

What one boundary has made life easier for your dog?

Fireworks prep starts before the first bang. 🎆

Walk earlier if you can, organise toilet trips before dark and get that familiar den ready. Keep your dog secure outdoors and check their ID details. If noise fear is severe, speak to your vet.

Preparation beats panic.
