⚠️ PLEASE DON’T GIVE YOUR DOG A COOKED BONE ⚠️

💔 Sadly, another much-loved dog has recently lost their life after eating a commercially sold cooked bone.

Despite emergency surgery, the damage caused internally was simply too severe.

As dog owners, we naturally assume that if a product is sold specifically for dogs, it must be safe. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

Cooked, roasted and smoked bones become much harder and more brittle than raw bones. Instead of breaking down safely, they can splinter into sharp fragments that may cause:

🦴 Broken teeth
🦴 Choking
🦴 Bones becoming lodged in the throat or oesophagus
🦴 Dangerous blockages
🦴 Tears or punctures to the stomach or intestines
🦴 Emergency surgery… and heartbreak.

Sadly, vets have treated many dogs with life-threatening injuries after chewing these types of bones, and there have been previous concerns raised about commercially sold cooked bone products.

☀️ With the warmer weather, many of us are looking for ways to keep our dogs occupied, but there are much safer ways to provide long-lasting enrichment.

🎉 Happy 30th Birthday, Lauren 🎉

Thirty years ago, you decided that waiting until your due date was overrated and made your grand entrance 11 weeks early, right in the middle of the Royal Highland Show. Typical Lauren really—always determined to do things your own way and never one for following the rules!

From that tiny premature baby who weighed less than a bag of sugar, you have spent the last 30 years proving that limitations are merely suggestions.

You’ve studied in America, served in the Army Officer Training Corps, represented Great Britain in dressage development squads, won international powerlifting championships, been a finalist in Miss Universe, won at the Royal Highland Show, become a champion at Blair Horse Trials, won young judges for welsh ponies and achieved more with horses than many people could dream of in a lifetime.

But while those achievements are incredible, they aren’t what makes me most proud.

You are kind when no one is watching, fiercely loyal to those you love, passionate about doing the right thing, and determined to leave the world a little better than you found it. You are a wonderful daughter, sister, partner, granddaughter, friend, breeder, and mentor to so many people.

Life hasn’t always made things easy for you, yet time and again you’ve shown courage, resilience, and a refusal to give up, no matter what has been thrown your way.

The little girl who arrived early has spent the last 30 years racing ahead of every expectation.

I couldn’t be prouder, and I couldn’t love you more.

Happy 30th Birthday, Lauren. ❤️
