👏Meet the wonderful humans we’re celebrating this week who are the often-unsung heroes of our practice…the veterinary receptionists!

💙They are the friendly voices on the phone, the warm smiles at the front desk, the weavers of diary magic, and the calm in a (sometimes chaotic) storm. From comforting pet parents to keeping everything running smoothly in the day & more, they truly do it all!

📣Join us as the week comes to a close, in giving a massive thank you to our reception team for their dedication, compassion, and daily dose of patience. We’d be completely lost without them!

Our next CPD event for vets and nurses is coming up on Tuesday 4th March at our Bradley Stoke hospital. Email us for a place! Liz Jennings who runs our radioactive iodine unit will be guide us through the diagnostic and treatment options available for hyperthyroidism in cats in a practical and contextual way. Congratulations to Jo🥳who has been working for us in Rowe Referrals for the past 10 years today. Jo plays a vital role in our admin team looking after client accounts making sure insurance claims are processed quickly. Radioactive Iodine Treatment is available at Rowe Referrals 🐾

🐾Did you know?
Medical treatment can not cure hyperthyroidism, it gets worse over time meaning long term medication, regular blood tests and monitoring are required. Medication can eventually fail to control the disease. Hyperthyroidism can progress to cancer within 5 years of diagnosis in 25% of cases.

🐾Have you considered radioactive iodine treatment instead?
Radioactive iodine treatment is curative in 95% of cats and cats treated with radioactive iodine, on average, live longer than those treated medically. Post-treatment isolation can be as sort as 3 days, with a maximum of 10 days.
Cost of pre-treatment screening and treatment is currently £3200, equivalent to 2 ½ years of medication.

👀 Is able to offer short notice appointments for painful and sight threatening conditions
👀 Is fully equipped to manage any eye condition

Introducing Ed who joined Rowe Referrals late 2024, Ed graduated from Cambridge university in 2015. Since then he spent 1 year in mixed practice and 2 years in Equine practice before finding his interest in eyes, he moved to small animal practice and completed the BSAVA Ophthalmology certificate to pursue this, Ed has an interest in Ophthalmology of all species and is an RCVS advanced practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology.

Outside of work Ed enjoys walking his Labrador puppy in the Cotswolds and is a keen veg grower!
