📣 Important Information for Our Burnham-on-Sea Clients 📣

On Monday 9th November, Burnham-on-Sea will be hosting its annual Carnival, and we would like to make clients aware that roads in and around the town will be closed from 4:00pm.

As our Burnham practice is located within the road closure area, there will be no vehicle access to or from the practice after 4:00pm. Because of this, the practice will be closing at 4:00pm on the day of the Carnival.

Should you require urgent veterinary assistance after this time, our team will continue to provide emergency support from our Bridgwater practice on Showground Road.

We would like to thank all of our clients for their understanding and cooperation whilst this fantastic local event takes place.

🎭 Everyone at Blake Vets would like to wish all those taking part in, organising, and attending the Burnham Carnival a safe, successful, and enjoyable event! 🎭

Thank you for your continued support.

🐱 A New Chapter for Cats at Blake Vets! 🐱

We are delighted to announce the launch of Blake Cat Clinic at our East Quay branch, opening on 4th January 2027.

Created exclusively for cats, our new clinic has been designed to provide a calm, comfortable, and low stress environment where feline patients can receive the care they deserve. By offering a dedicated cat-only space, we can minimise many of the sights, sounds, and distractions that can make veterinary visits challenging for our feline friends.

We are also thrilled to be welcoming Victoria Poore, our dedicated feline veterinary surgeon, who will be leading the clinic. Victoria has completed additional training in Feline Medicine through the International Society of Feline Medicine and brings extensive experience caring for cats, a species she is truly passionate about.

She will be supported by many of the familiar veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support team members you already know and trust from Blake Vets.

Whether you are already part of the Blake Vets family or are looking for a veterinary practice dedicated to your cat's wellbeing, we would love to welcome you to Blake Cat Clinic.

🎉 Save the Date! 🎉

While the clinic officially opens on 4th January 2027, we will be hosting an Official Opening Party on Saturday 9th January 2027, and we'd love for you to celebrate with us. More details will be announced soon, so keep an eye on our social media channels.

For clients who previously visited East Quay before its closure, please be assured that we will continue to provide care for all other species at our Showground Road practice, where our full range of veterinary services remains available.

This is an exciting milestone for Blake Vets, and we look forward to creating a truly special veterinary experience for cats and the people who love them.

🐱💙

🔈🎆Final tips for sound therapy!🎆🔈

🐾 Tip 3: Go at Your Pet’s Pace!
Only gradually increase the volume once your pet is comfortable. Keep it low enough that they barely notice the sound. Remember, never rush the process! 💕

🩺 Tip 4: Seek Veterinary Advice!
If your pet becomes extremely anxious around fireworks, please get in touch with our veterinary team. We can discuss additional ways to help keep your pet calm and comfortable. 🐶🐱💙

🎆 Final Tip: Every pet is different, so be patient and celebrate the small steps! 🐾

🎆🐾 Sound Therapy Continued... 🐾🎆

Sound therapy can be a great way to help desensitise our pets to frightening noises, especially during firework season! 💙

🔊 Tip 1: Start Low and Go Slowly
Introduce firework sounds at a very low volume for short periods when your pet is relaxed. Once they become comfortable, gradually increase the volume over time. Remember, small changes are best!

🐾 Tip 2: Watch Your Pet's Reactions
Keep an eye on your pet's body language. If they show signs of stress or anxiety, stop the session and give them time to relax. You can always try again another day at a lower volume.

👀 More tips to come! Keep an eye on our page for more ways to help your furry friends feel safe this firework season!💙

Where does your pet sit on the scale?
😄 😐 🫤 ☹️
Bad breath can be a sign of dental disease.

Regular dental care can help keep their teeth and gums healthy, prevent problems from getting worse and keep them comfortable.
