B&W Equine Hospital is one of Europe’s most advanced equine diagnostic and surgical centres – and we’re looking for a 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒓 to lead and inspire our incredible nursing team!

This newly created role is non-clinical, making it perfect for someone with leadership experience in a medical or veterinary setting who’s ready to step into a key operational role. 𝑹𝑽𝑵 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆.

You’ll be:
✅ Overseeing day-to-day team management
✅ Coordinating nurse case allocation & patient flow
✅ Supporting training, development & wellbeing
✅ Working closely with senior leaders to keep our hospital running smoothly

25–40 hours/week - No out-of-hours duties
Competitive salary (DOE)

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts today. A 2-month-old c**t foal has sadly lost his mum and is now in need of a loving foster mare to give him the care, comfort, and nourishment he so desperately needs.

The foal is currently being looked after here at the B&W Equine Hospital, where he’s receiving round-the-clock care from our dedicated team.

**Pastern injury** (Contains images of wound)
Breadstone vet Alex was recently called out to this poor chap. Having lost a front shoe in the field he had then stepped on it with his hind foot and impaled the shoe into his pastern.
With the other end of the shoe caught in his heel, the shoe was completely wedged in place, and had to be cut using an angle grinder in order to remove it. Thankfully, with the help of some sedation, pain relief and a nerve block he remained completely calm throughout the whole process despite a lot of sparks flying!
Once the shoe had been removed the wound was cleaned, assessed and dressed. We are pleased to report that he has since made an excellent recovery and the wound is healing nicely.

**INTERNATIONAL LEARNING!**

☀️A few weeks ago Breadstone vet Alex Wood had the pleasure of being invited out to the Via Nova training facility in New Mexico to attend their Spring Workshop.
☀️Via Nova’s training approach focuses entirely on using positive reinforcement to train horses in a force-free fashion.
☀️As well as having the opportunity to meet some fascinating behaviour scientists and trainers, Alex was able to see how positive reinforcement can be used to train horses under saddle as well as on the ground.
☀️This could be particularly useful in complex behaviour cases where pain memory or extreme anxiety is affecting a horse’s performance under saddle.
