Finn’s Fantastic Non-ridden Sessions
Summer Dates: Tuesdsy 4th August & Tuesday 18th August 2026

9:30 am-2.30pm
Running in the holidays, this gives riders and non-riders alike the opportunity to get hands-on with the horses at the CEC and develop horse care skills
This is a non-ridden session designed to give students in school years 5 and 8, (aged 9-14) an insight into college life and the world of horses. It has been designed for anyone who has a keen interest in horses and may want to pursue it as a career.
Please ensure you wrap up warm and bring wellington boots, as this is a practical activity day with lots of PONY FUN!
The day will consist of grooming, a horse quiz, unmounted games and a tack cleaning competition

Come and pop around for 15 minutes at Cannington College 🐎

Take your time to warm up in our indoor arena, just like you would on a show day. Then head out, feeling confident, to our outdoor arena at your booked time to jump a course (or two!) set at a height to suit you and your horse.

✨ Heights adjusted to suit all combinations

Perfect for building confidence, getting back into the ring, or just having a relaxed, enjoyable ride 💚

Huge well done to everyone at Cannington today 🐴✨. It was great to see welcome some new faces to the centre.

Word on the yard is that all the horses absolutely jumped their socks off. There may have been a few cheeky moments, a couple of “creative” approaches, and the odd rider questioning their life choices mid-round… but every horse went in trying their heart out.

The riders rode brilliantly too — smart turns, brave riding, and somehow managing to stay elegant while their horses occasionally forgot the plan entirely. Honestly, I hear it was a cracking event from start to finish. The leaders were very stylistic too in there attempts of the course.

What a pamper session after, all horses were treated like Olympic champions.

However… there was one very important thing missing.

Me.

Yes, Super Sophie. Bit shocking really. I waited all day for my call up, mane perfectly prepared, star quality activated, ears pricked, ready to show everyone how it’s done… and nothing. Not even a polite invitation. I can only assume there’s been some sort of admin error because surely nobody intentionally leaves the main character at home? 🤨

For future reference, if you’d like a formal introduction, it’s Super Sophie. You’ll find me in the course yard being the best looking one there. Please don’t tell Luigi, he’s already difficult enough to live with after he’s seen himself in a mirror once 🫣😂

Anyway, well done everyone — sounds like the horses, riders, supporters and organisers all smashed it 👏🐎.

HOT HOT HOT… Luigi here 🐴☀️

Honestly, if anyone needs me, I’ll be melted into a small brown puddle somewhere in the shade. Phew, it’s been warm! Luckily, some of us delicate athletic types have been treated to cold hoses, cooling clips, extra pampering, and even a few days off. I call it “equine self-care.”

The staff have been running around after us like personal holiday reps, making sure we get the shadiest paddocks. Only the VIP treatment for me, especially if I’m expected to perform tomorrow at my best. I know that they will absolutely love whatever I do.

A quick reminder to all you lovely horsey visitors — PLEASE don’t forget your passports! The staff will be on the gate helping with checks as we’re following BHS guidance and protocols. Apparently, I can’t just wink and trot through security.

Right, I’m off to stand dramatically in front of the fan and pretend I’ve done a full day’s work.
