Whatever you're thinking, don't do it! πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Every year, within weeks after Easter, we get begged to take the rabbits in that the parents/grandparents got for their children/grandchildren for Easter πŸ™„

"The kids are bored"

"I don't want to clean them out"

"They've destroyed the furniture"

"They don't like being picked up"

"We've got 2 unneutered rabbits and they're fighting"

Honestly it's boring. The same excuses year in and year out.

It's not hard:
DO πŸ‘πŸΌ YOUR πŸ‘πŸΌ RESEARCH πŸ‘πŸΌ

They're living breathing animals, NOT TOYS 🚫

Every year, far too many rabbits are bought on impulse - only to be abandoned or β€œset free” before their first birthday. But domestic rabbits are not wild animals. They cannot survive outside. Exposure, predators, disease, and starvation make abandonment a death sentence.

And for the ones who are found in time? They end up in already overcrowded shelters and rescues, where resources are stretched thin and space is limited.

Rabbits are intelligent, social animals who need safe indoor housing, proper diet, veterinary care, and long-term commitment. If you’re not ready for that responsibility, that’s okay - just don’t buy a bunny.

A plush is enough this easter!

πŸ’” Important Update for Rabbit Owners πŸ’”

We are sadly receiving reports of rabbits who were vaccinated with the triple vaccine, but have still passed away, with PCR testing confirming RVHD2. 😒

At the moment, UK PCR tests cannot distinguish between the classic RVHD2 strain and the newer, more aggressive RVHD2(HV) strain. This is why it’s vital that rabbits receive both the standard triple vaccine and the newer vaccine that specifically covers RVHD2(HV).

If your rabbit dies suddenly with few or no obvious symptoms, we strongly recommend asking your vet to perform a post-mortem and send samples for PCR testing.

πŸ‘‰ If the test confirms RVHD2 and your rabbit was vaccinated within the last 12 months, you (or your vet) should report this as a potential vaccine failure to the VMD using this link:
https://www.gov.uk/report-veterinary-medicine-problem

Reporting these cases is incredibly important β€” it helps build a clearer picture of how well current vaccines are protecting our rabbits.

πŸ”— More information and guidance can be found here:

Please share to help keep our rabbit community informed and protected. πŸ°πŸ’™
