A close up of 2 Genomes. This is the founding female right here. I’m shooting for supers again as I missed last year. She’s not an amazing feeder generally but now she’s got some action she’s been in psycho aggressive feed mode, a mode I love as it generally means one thing, eggs on the way. But anyway I digress, this is to show what adults of this gene look like, they keep that orange / yellow colour and have a unique pattern about them. I think the future is bright for this one.

Bit of a milestone in the new Rattery today. Finished lining it so now onto the hygiene board. I wanted to do a step by step which I will likely do when it's done. We had some big hold ups but it's nice to finally be here now after wanting to be in and set up before Christmas.

Tomorrow we start the hygiene board, that and with pretty much all fittings being water proof the whole room will work almost like a wet room. Not quite to that extent but as good as.
It was going to have a heat exchanger but the one I was going to order wouldn't have changed the air enough times so I'm putting that off until I can get the bigger one. For now it will just have 3 or 4 fans working to move air in and out. Hopefully that will be enough for now.

It's gOt an epoxy resin floor for ease of cleaning and a set of double doors down the end to help load used bedding out and new supplies in.

Here's a little throw back. The first multi gene combo I produced. This was in 2009 and I sold this Pewter for £800. How times change. It's all a natural part of the hobby but it's still interesting to look back and also try to look forward to where the hobby is going. I think it's in a better place than ever. More keepers, more passion and better combos and genes out there than ever. Here's to the future of our very young hobby.
