As is inevitable at this time of year, we have had a few changes in staff and were sad to see Grace and Jazz leave recently to move on to pastures new and fresh challenges.

We thank them both for all their hard work, wishing them all our best wishes for the future!

This also means that we have some vacancies available here at Rowley Racing!

RIDERS:
We are looking for competent riders, no racing experience necessary but must be confident riding young and fit racehorses.

Being able to educate horses and ride correctly on the flat is a bonus.

YARD WORK:
We are looking for people who are hardworking, with experience handling horses with good attention to detail.

We can be flexible with hours and rates depending on experience.

🐎 Whilst we can’t accept dogs, we would consider your own horse.

🏡 On site accommodation.

We are a small, friendly family run yard, and we all work very much as a team.

There are ample opportunities to go racing, and you would be entitled to pool money, pension, and yard bonuses.

🕐 It is generally a 5-day week with everyone having at least one day off each weekend and a half day in the week depending on hours.

Last Friday whilst walking the track at Aintree, Mel took a trip down memory lane as we announce the retirement of Kyntara 🐎

Kyntara has been an incredible horse for us, giving us some fantastic days to include both at Cheltenham Festival and Aintree⭐️

We are delighted that he will be staying with us here at Poplar Cottage for his retirement and will enjoy a very varied change in career!

We are deeply saddened to hear about the recent loss of George Barlow.

George and his wife Anne have been long term supporters of ours, sending us many of the ‘Bear’ dynasty to produce.

Many went on to Big school with Nicky Henderson, but we were privileged to be given the opportunity to train the likes of Bears Affair to win the Aintree Foxhunters and more recently Bear Market who started by winning the Championship Point to Point Bumper at Aintree for Phil, and has won subsequently for us under rules.

George was a strong character, but was always very fair, understanding and patient, and the twinkle in his eye and joyful tears after any win will always be fondly remembered.

We would like to extend all our thoughts and best wishes to Anne and the Barlow family at this sad time.

Rowley Racing are very sad to announce the passing of our longest standing owner Cynthia Bibbey, affectionally known as ‘Mrs B’ by all of us.

Her association with myself (Mel) started 35 years ago when she asked if I would take on the ride of Amadeus, a dressage horse that she had had from a youngster. We had many wonderful days out at local competitions and National Championships with Amadeus, Luciano and finally Undygo with Mrs ‘B’ becoming my harshest but most loyal and fairest critic!

This led to an introduction to her long-term partner Vic Tolley who couldn’t understand the point in dressage but loved racing and so our Association with point to pointing and more recently National Hunt was established, continuing under the eagle eye of ‘Mrs B’ after Vic’s passing a few years ago.

Mrs B had some fantastic horses, the most notable being Champagne Lilly who was a prolific winner for her on the pointing field and most recently Perryville who was always very consistent, and who loved her weekly visit armed with carrots and apples cut in a very certain way!!!

She was so well respected, fiercely loyal, had a wicked sense of humour and was feared at times for her no nonsense approach! I think we were all subjected to her sharp tongue or a carefully worded letter over the years!

She has left a big hole in my life and in the yard. It was a privilege to have been associated with Mrs B for such a long time and to be able to consider her not only as an owner but as a dear friend, confidant, and surrogate granny to my children.
