Jess and Jamie wanted to let us know that after a slightly stressed-out start, Cheeky Chico has settled in so well! "He's always been a keen explorer who shot out his carrier soon as we were home, so opening the garden to him has helped him feel much more settled. He loves a good play - especially with shoelaces despite all the toys we've bought him - and plenty of cuddles. Chico loves a good scratch and snooze and has decided several spots in the house are his to snooze in. He's fit right into the family and is very very loved by all who've met him. Thank you for helping us find him right we needed him!"

Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our beautiful old girl, Sunshine. 💔🌈

Sunshine was one of our precious senior Cat who was simply too old to spend her final days in a shelter. She deserved the comfort of a home, the warmth of companionship, and the love that every Cat should know.

Thankfully, our wonderful foster dad, Davy, opened his heart and home to her. Davy has been a loyal supporter of our rescue for many years, and we cannot thank him enough for giving Sunshine exactly what she needed most a family, kindness, gentle care, and love during her final chapter.

Although saying goodbye is never easy, we take comfort in knowing that Sunshine’s last days were filled with the affection and security she deserved. She didn’t leave this world alone. She left knowing she was loved.

Run free now, sweet Sunshine. Chase the butterflies, bask in the warm sunshine, and rest easy over the Rainbow Bridge until we meet again. 🌈🐈‍⬛

Thank you, Davy, for making Sunshine’s final journey one of love and dignity. Your kindness meant the world to her, and to all of us. ❤️

Sleep peacefully, beautiful girl. You will always be remembered.

💔 Run Free, Beautiful Lily (Artemis) 🌈🐾

A few years ago, Lily, then known as Artemis, came to Lothian Cat Rescue after her owner could no longer cope with her constant ill health.

After only a few days with us, we noticed her abdomen was filling with fluid and she was becoming increasingly lethargic. A trip to our vets and further tests confirmed every rescuer’s fear she had wet FIP.

We started her on antiviral medication as quickly as possible. It’s fair to say she absolutely hated taking it, but with patience, perseverance and six weeks of treatment, our brave girl began to recover.

During this time, a wonderful lady came to visit the rescue. She and Artemis fell completely in love. Knowing Artemis had FIP and that it would be some time before they could begin their life together never put her off. Instead, she spent time at the shelter bonding with her, waiting patiently for the day she could finally take her home.

When Artemis was ready, she packed her bags and began the happy life she so deserved. She became Lily and was adored by her mum. She even gained a brother, Myles another much loved Lothian Cat Rescue cat. She followed her mum everywhere, loved her new family, and finally knew what it was like to be cherished.

Sadly, after a year in remission, Lily’s FIP returned. This time, fluid built up around her chest and heart, and the kindest, most loving decision had to be made.

Today, our beautiful girl has been set free from her pain.

We cannot thank Lily’s mum enough for giving this special girl the loving home she deserved. Although their time together was far too short, it was filled with love, happiness and precious memories. Our hearts are with her at this incredibly difficult time.

Run free at Rainbow Bridge, beautiful Lily. 🌈💜

You are now reunited with your beloved brother, Myles. Until we meet again, sweet girl. Forever loved, forever remembered. 🐾❤️

Together Forever 🌈🐾

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the loss of two very special members of our Lothian Cat Rescue family our beautiful Vicki and our handsome Claude.

Vicki came to us many years ago alongside her beloved sister, Sky. Both girls were desperately poorly with severe cat flu and fought so hard to survive. We knew their journey would always involve ongoing care, as flare-ups would need treatment throughout their lives, so they were given a special ground pass to live safely here with us, where we could always be there when they needed us.

Around eight months ago, Claude arrived at the rescue carrying his own heavy burden. He suffered from severe polyps in his ears and nose, and his teeth were in such poor condition that they all had to be removed. With ongoing steroid treatment and lots of love, Claude was also given a ground pass so he could enjoy life while receiving the care he needed.

It didn’t take long for Claude to become friends with all of our resident cats, but there was something truly special about the friendship he formed with Vicki and Sky. Almost every day we would find Vicki and Claude curled up together, sharing naps, warmth and quiet companionship. Watching their friendship blossom brought us so much happiness.

Sadly, their time together wasn’t nearly long enough.

Vicki was diagnosed with a large tumour in her tummy, and on that very same day Claude began struggling to breathe. His steroids were no longer able to keep the polyps under control, and we knew the kindest gift we could give them both was peace.

Although our hearts are broken, there is comfort in knowing they crossed Rainbow Bridge together. We like to think Vicki was there waiting for Claude, and that the two of them are once again curled up together, with no pain, no illness and endless sunshine to enjoy.

Run free, beautiful Vicki and Claude. Thank you for every cuddle, every purr, every gentle head bump and every precious memory.

You will both be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.

Sleep peacefully, sweet angels. Until we meet again. 💔🌈🐾
