With the weather heating up across the UK, it's important more than ever to ensure you know the correct information in regards to dogs potentially suffering from heatstroke. If you suspect your dog is suffering from heatsroke, you must cool them first and transport them to the vet second.

Toby, a 2-year-old black Labrador, has made an incredible recovery after a freak accident left him seriously injured when he was impaled on a stick during play.

What started as a normal game quickly turned into a life-threatening emergency when the stick became lodged in his throat, narrowly missing vital organs. Despite urgent local treatment, Toby needed emergency specialist care at our Vets Now Glasgow Hospital

He underwent delicate surgery to remove the stick, but later developed serious complications requiring a second urgent operation after vets suspected potentially fatal peritonitis.

Thanks to the skill and dedication of the team, Toby has now made a strong recovery and is back home with his family, much to their relief.

His owners are now sharing their story to highlight the hidden dangers of stick injuries in dogs and are urging others to be cautious. 🐾

This World Blood Donor Day, we’re celebrating a truly remarkable dog. ❤️

Meet Jaffa, an 8-year-old Bracco Italiano who has donated blood an incredible 35 times through Pet Blood Bank UK 🩸, helping to save up to 140 dogs along the way.

Since her very first donation at just 14 months old, Jaffa and her owner have attended every donation session possible. Her final donation is booked for July 5th, just before she turns 9 later that month.

As a working Bracco Italiano, Jaffa loves exploring the countryside. When she’s not on the go, she’s catching up on her beauty sleep - a talent that’s even extended to the donation table! 😴

Kayleigh, Jaffa’s owner, says that Pet Blood Bank UK 🩸 make every session a breeze, with plenty of fuss, cuddles, treats and attention. So much so that her tail doesn’t stop wagging until she leaves! ☺️

Gorgeous boy Dougie was brought into our Vets Now Manchester Hospital following a bout of sickness and diarrhoea. As he is older, he became unwell quickly and required intensive treatment, including plasma, IV fluids, heart medication, antibiotics, and pain relief.

He stayed in hospital for six nights, during which his condition became critical, but thanks to our dedicated team, Dougie gradually improved and was able to return home to his family. ❤️

Like us, curious cats and dogs risk getting stung by bees and wasps. As we know, stings can be very irritating and painful, but in many cases you won't need to take your pet to the vet. However, you should contact your vet immediately if they:

🐝Have been stung in the mouth of throat

🐝Have been stung multiple times

🐝Are showing signs of allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock (significant swelling to face, trouble breathing or collapse)

Little Chive was rushed into our Vets Now Manchester Hospital in the early hours, experiencing heart failure.

Thanks to the quick action and skilled care from our vet, Makayla, he was already showing amazing improvement within just two days.

He’s now back to eating, moving around, and acting much more like himself again.

Throughout, his owners received prompt attention, clear advice, and regular updates, helping turn a frightening emergency into a reassuring experience.

We’re so pleased to see him on the mend ❤️
