📣 Autumn Hazards 🍂

Did you know?
As the leaves fall, some hidden autumn dangers appear!

🍄 Mushrooms, conkers, and acorns may look harmless on your autumn walks, but they can actually make your dog very unwell.

🍫 With trick-or-treating season here, there’s often more chocolate and sweets around the house. Keep them well out of reach, as chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats.

🧊 Antifreeze is a common winter product containing ethylene glycol, which is extremely poisonous to cats and dogs. Even a few drops can be harmful, so wipe up any spills immediately and store bottles securely.

🐶 Keep your pets safe by:
✅ Preventing them from picking up or chewing fallen nuts, seeds, or fungi.
✅ Keeping a close eye when walking in wooded areas or parks.
✅ Storing chocolate, sweets, and antifreeze safely out of reach.
✅ Call us right away if your pet eats something they shouldn’t

Stay safe this season, happy walks from all of us at Braemar Veterinary Clinic! 🐾

🎆 Fireworks Season is nearly here… 🎆

While fireworks can be fun for us, for many pets they’re frightening and stressful. With Halloween on the way, and fireworks often starting early, now is the perfect time to get prepared.

🐾 Set up a cosy den or safe space indoors
🐾 Keep curtains closed and play calming music/TV
🐾 Double-check your pet’s microchip details are up to date

If you’re worried about how your pet will cope, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Our team can chat through options like calming supplements, or book a vet appointment if you feel your pet needs extra support. 💚

A little preparation now can make a big difference later.

🎉 Today marks 20 years of Braemar Veterinary Clinic! 🎉

Over the past few weeks, we’ve loved looking back at old photos and sharing the memories that shaped our journey. The kind words, stories, and well-wishes from all of you have been truly heart-warming. Thank you for being such a big part of the Braemar family. 💚🩷

We couldn’t resist finishing our anniversary celebrations with this gem. Shane on opening day, sitting at reception and pretending to be the receptionist and “working hard” on the computer. Safe to say, he is much better suited to life on the other side of the desk! 🐾

Here’s to the last 20 years, and to many more ahead. Thank you for trusting us with your pets, your stories, and your smiles. 💕

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Daniel William 🐾

Here’s the unforgettable Daniel William, a cheeky little Yorkie with the cutest smile! 😍 His happy face was always guaranteed to brighten the room and win everyone over.

As we celebrate nearly 20 years of Braemar, it’s pets like Daniel William who remind us of the joy, character, and love that so many furry friends have brought through our doors. 💛🐶

✨ Then & Now ✨

As we count down to our 20th Anniversary on 23rd September, we’ve been looking back at how much has changed since 2005.

From the very first Braemar sign going up outside the building, to Shane welcoming patients in those early days, the difference between then and now is amazing to see. 🐾

20 years later, the building has grown with us, the sign has seen a refresh, and Shane is still doing what he loves most - caring for pets in our community. 💛

It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come, and we can’t wait to see what the next 20 years will bring.

🐾 Patient Spotlight - Brandy 🐾

As we look back in the run up to our 20th Anniversary, we’re sharing a few of the lovely pets who were among our very first patients here at Braemar.

This is the gorgeous Brandy 💛 one of the early visitors to the practice. Shane still laughs when he remembers giving Brandy a few dental extractions… which she apparently never quite forgave him for! 🦷😉

Stories like these remind us just how many pets and personalities we’ve had the privilege of caring for over the past two decades.

✨ Did you know Braemar is turning 20 in just a few weeks? ✨

This time, in 2005, Shane was busy unpacking boxes, building furniture, setting up equipment, and getting everything ready for opening day. 📦🛠️

As some of you will remember, the practice looked a little different then. Equipment has since been upgraded, rooms have been shuffled around, and spaces have been adapted to help us care for more and more pets. And can you believe the consult room was once blue? 💙

From those early days to now, so much has changed within the building, but one thing has always remained the same, our commitment to providing the very best care for your pets. 🐶🐱🐾

We’re excited to share more memories with you as we count down to our 20th Anniversary on 23rd September. 🎉

We’ve been delighted to welcome so many of Mr O’Boyle’s lovely clients since his retirement 💛 This week we had the pleasure of meeting Sid, who came in for an appointment with Peter, and he was all smiles joining the Braemar family 🐾✨

If you were previously registered with Mr O’Boyle and haven’t had a chance to get in touch yet, we’d love to hear from you! Please give us a call for more information about our practice. We’re really looking forward to meeting more of you and your wonderful pets soon!

💙🐾 Meet Shane – our Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon! 🐾💙

Who better to finish our Meet the Vets series than Shane!

Shane qualified from Glasgow University and went on to work as a vet in both England and Australia before opening the doors of Braemar Veterinary Clinic in September 2005. For the past two decades, he has been at the heart of the practice, caring for countless pets and building lasting relationships with our clients.

Alongside running the clinic, Shane is involved in many aspects of the veterinary community! He is a founding member of Vet Support NI and remains actively involved with the Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practising in Northern Ireland, where he previously served as President.

Outside of work, when he can find the time, Shane enjoys golf, reading, and long distance running, and right now, he’s taking on triathlons!

We’re so grateful for Shane’s leadership, dedication, and the genuine care he shows to both pets and people, it’s no wonder he’s such a favourite among our long-term clients. 💙

💙🐾 Meet Cathy – one of our brilliant Veterinary Surgeons! 🐾💙

Cathy joined Team Braemar in May this year, and we’re so excited to introduce her properly!

She studied in Dublin and has since worked in both mixed practice and small animal charity practice, bringing a wide range of experience to her role. Cathy enjoys all aspects of small animal practice and is particularly enjoying getting to know, and building relationships with, our lovely clients.

Outside of work, Cathy enjoys yoga and reading, and at home she has her little dog, Annie, who keeps her company.

We’re thrilled to have Cathy on the team. Her warmth, knowledge, and dedication to her patients make her a fantastic addition to Braemar. 💙
