Where has 10 years gone 🥲

Found at 3 weeks old with lice and fleas and really bad conjunctivitis. Smuggled into my old flat where it was a bit touch and go for the little one for a few weeks.

Eventually we did agree a name > Hiccup ! A bit of a double entendre she used to get hiccups after her bottle, and she was also a bit of a life-hiccup as we weren't expecting to become cat parents at that time in our lives 🥹

This little madame soon became big and strong and now runs the place 🤭 Bosses us all around and picks on our dog Titan 😂

10 years of mischief ...looking foward to many more 🐈‍⬛💛

What an eventful week .Pet Sits with Speedy Del and then Daisy Lab . Spent a lot of time in Wen Y Wylan this week as Talli joined us for some extra walks while his parents were away , and then also on the search lost pup - Monsieur Fergus who after a day and a half was found there ...after a very extensive search by our lovely community and friends and family of Fergus' Mummy 🥰

How does your pup do with their recall? What's their absolute ultimate reward? Let me know in the comments...

​Client: "My dog's recall has improved so much since you started walking them! How did you do it?"

​Me: Excellent! I used lots of positive reinforcement. 😊

​In all honesty, I’m absolutely thrilled when our walks have a positive impact on the lives of pet parents, not just the dogs themselves. But it occurred to me that I’ve been oversimplifying things when people ask this.

​The real secret? We like to keep the doggos on their toes and make listening a total blast. Here are a few handy tips on how we build that bulletproof recall:

🥎​Less chatter, more meaning: I don’t actually talk too much on walks. Because of that, when I do speak, the dogs know it’s worth listening to.

🥎​Keep them guessing: We constantly change directions and mix things up. I might hide a ball for a game of "go find", or suddenly change direction, we also play hide-and-seek (If the environment is safe and everyone is calm and sniffing, I might pop behind a tree or scurry into a bush). It keeps their focus firmly on me because they don't want to lose out on the fun!

🥎​Recall always pays: Whether it’s by name or by whistle, returning to me always results in a jackpot. No exceptions! This could be a ball throw, a high-value treat, or just a massive fuss and a good scratch.
*​With the Treats ; Sometimes it's "treat bowling" across the grass, and sometimes it's delivered directly to the mouth.

🥎​The "eye contact" tax: I love rewarding engagement. If a pup offers me some voluntary eye contact, I’ll often sneak them a "freebie" treat , and sometimes they get double when the others aren't looking🤫🧡

Absolutely fabulous Canine First Aid Workshop attended on Sunday . Run by Gwen's Choice and hosted by Paws4Fitness in Caernarfon. This workshop was fantastic and was great to refresh our knowledge from certification gained in 2023, and make sure we know the latest best practices 🤗

​The first 15 minutes of a walk, the dogs make it look like it's my first rodeo... The last 15 minutes, they make me look like a consummate professional. Literally every time! 🐾

​Wouldn't have it any other way though 💛

​Full transparency: if you see us out and about and it looks chaotic, you definitely spotted us at the start of a group walk 🙃. Everyone is excited, there’s lots of sniffing, and toilet breaks are happening in all different directions and at all different speeds.

​Since everyone is still on-lead, I’m doing my best to manage the "lead-spaghetti" being created, attempting to keep myself untangled, all while picking up poops and scanning the horizon for squirrels, rabbits, or incoming dogs 🐿️.

​⏩ 15 minutes later: The scene is totally different. The dogs are relieved, relaxed, and soaking in the benefits of the great outdoors.
​⏩ By the end of the walk: You’d mistake us for a completely different party. The vibe is engaged, calm (mostly), and dare I say... sensible, after some quality off-lead time 😎.
