Although the weather treated us to all the seasons in one weekend it definitely felt like the first show of the summer season at Chard Equestrian last week.
We had fantastic courses and some really good competition but the horses held their own were all on top form with loads of double clears, wins and top placings 🙌

I made a New Year’s resolution to keep this page more up to date this year and yet I’m already behind! 😬

Thankfully the horses hit the ground running at Chard Equestrian for their first shows of the year 🙌

Cevin’s Kite, Latona Minka and Nostradamus van de Kalevallei all jumped two newcomers/1.10 classes each without a fault between them. Nostradamus picked up a 🥇&🥈, Minka 🥉& 6th and Kite 4th and 7th.

In the fox/1.20m classes Zsarmuse had a 🥈& 5th, Tudor Lough made a return to competition from a well deserved break after HOYS for 🥇&🥈 and lovely Blue Twist won both her classes 🥇🥇

The lovely Tomboy was also on great form for 🥈in the 1.30m 💗

Love how excited they all were to get back to it and all feeling ready to move on up. We were also super proud of students Ellen and Lucie for classy rounds and placings on their horses 👏

🔹We are looking for an extra pair of hands to join our team. Role includes all general yard duties, bringing in, turning out and tacking up for lessons. We work as a team and all muck in together so sole charge is rare. There is riding available if wanted but not necessary.

🔷Loads of training available for someone wanting to improve their skills and knowledge whether in riding or all other aspects of horse care.

🔹Accommodation can be provided in the house with all meals included and own horse could be a possibility. We are regularly out training and competing and can potentially offer some opportunities in these aspects if suitable.

🔹 We are ideally looking for an apprentice on a full time basis (full details of this can be found on the Haddon Training website) but we are also open to discuss other options.

4️⃣ weeks in 3️⃣ minutes! 😮‍💨

💥 Kicked off our summer season with 2 weeks at the David Broome Event Centre
💥 Quick turnaround and straight to 2 days at Sparsholt College providing horses for the Navy team at the RAF championships
💥 A couple of days at home to have the colts castrated and drop Bayjing to stud (her Chance foal is due any day 🤞🤞)
💥 Good Friday was spent at the Lambourn Open Day where our wonderful schoolmasters were part of a charity jockeys challenge.
💥 Quick regroup and last week saw us at Chard Equestrian for their first CSI of the year.

Extremely grateful to our amazing team who make it all possible, especially top grooms Ellen Newton and Tegan Pope for all your hard work and our amazing team of owners who trust us with their precious horses!

Highlights include:

🐎 Sophia Hendy’s Johnny A placing in practically every class inc 1.30m GP, Welsh Masters Ladies Final and two 2* 1.35m classes
🐎Tracy Scammell’s Tudor Lough also placing in many class in Wales inc the Ladies Final and stepping up to place in our first 2* 1.35m
🐎Bridget Ellison’s Tomboy excelled himself at both shows, particularly the CSI for a 🥇 & 🥈
🐎 Jane Greenham’s Larramy BR made the step up to 1.15m with confidence and is looking ready to really progress this season.
🐎 Jackie Walls’ Zsarmuse qualified for the 1.20m welsh masters final which was a big step up for him but he made light work of a big technical course for just an unlucky pole
🐎Tracy Scammell’s Cevinz Kezia was double clear every day in the 5yo qualifiers and jumped an easy clear in the final - a big ask for a horse that has only been jumping a few months!

We’ve had quite a quiet winter of shows as all the established horses’ end of season holiday ended up being rather extended due to lots of exciting improvements being made to the yard at home. However we’ve been working away with a lovely little batch bringing them up to speed ready for the season ahead.
Wednesday’s show saw 4 horses jump 5 classes with double clears all round

7yo mare by Voss. Beautiful stamp whos done a little bit of everything but in general been a bit wasted with us and needs someone to show her more of the world. Done a few months of BS where she won a couple of discoveries and was ready to step up. Arena cross country schooled inc water. Lovely ride on the flat inc lateral work and changes.
Good to do in all ways inc hack, catch, box, clip, shoe etc.
Would suit a confident, competent rider. Forward going and has a slight tendency to rush when she jumps. We think she would thrive and improve with more turnout and variety than we can offer her.
