Nandor’s journey began as a rescue, with him finding his new forever home in October 2024. His family brought him to us straight away for vaccinations, microchipping, and neutering, and he quickly settled into life as a curious, playful kitten. 🐾
But everything changed shortly after Christmas. Nandor became unusually quiet and withdrawn. Within a few days, he was struggling to walk and unsteady on his feet. Concerned, his owners brought him back in, initially thinking he might have injured himself during one of his playful leaps.
When his condition worsened and he could barely lift his head, we admitted him immediately, started IV fluids, and carried out a series of tests. It was then that Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) was suspected — a disease that not long ago offered very little hope.
🐱 Thankfully, times have changed. Nandor was started on a breakthrough treatment, GS-441524 — a liquid medication given twice daily over a three-month course. The response was incredible. Within just 24 hours, he lifted his head again. Soon after, he was propping himself up, eating on his own, and showing flashes of his playful spirit.
Now, over halfway through his treatment, this sweet boy is back to being the energetic, happy kitten he was meant to be, with a glossy coat and a sparkle in his eye. ✨
