Empathy underpins everything our nurses do. It is so important to us when we are understanding our patients who can’t speak and supporting their families through a potentially worrying time ❤️‍🩹

Meet Nefi, a beautiful Sphynx cat who visited us with a corneal sequestrum this morning 👁️ She was a superstar for her ocular examination and then enjoyed lots of fuss with James afterwards! 💙

Meet Joy ✨

Joy started at Focus as an RVN and her role has recently transitioned into Operations Manager. Her responsibilities include holiday management, grounds maintenance and health and safety updates. Her favourite part of her job is the team she works with and problem solving. Joy’s favourite things to do outside of work include scuba diving and learning British sign language and she has recently enrolled on a sewing course 💙

Happy Friday! ⭐️

We have lots to celebrate, with the news that James has passed his ECVO exams to become a European Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology! 👏🎉

James joined the Focus team in 2021 as an Intern before going on to complete his residency. He worked incredibly hard for three years, during which he examined multiple species, including alligators and snakes, published papers and presented at conferences. He then undertook an intensive study period and has now been successful in passing both his theory and practical exams.

All his hard work paid off and we are so proud of him! 💙

Continuing Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month with the theme of mental health 💚 Veterinary nursing is a fulfilling and meaningful role but it can be challenging at times so this is a very important theme to explore. It is also mental health awareness week this week, so it is an extra special celebration of the things we can do in practice to support our mental wellbeing 🧠✨

Sam is one of our wonderful RVNs and she is also our Mental Health First Aider and Menopause Champion. This is a very important role, meaning she has compiled helpful resources for the team ranging from self-care tips to a perimenopausal symptom checker. Sam is an incredible support, signposting any of our Focus team to suitable qualified people if they are looking for support 💙

We are kicking off Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month with the theme of compassion! 💚

Compassion and empathy are at the heart of everything we do, shaping how our nurses care for our wonderful patients and clients. Recognising pain and stress in our patients is so important to our nurses. They do everything they can to provide a calm and loving environment, aiding our patient’s recovery from surgery and ongoing medical conditions 🩺
The nursing team are always here to listen to our clients and any worries that they may have about their pets, understanding that they are truly part of the family 🥰

It’s Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month! 🩺

This month we are celebrating our lovely team of veterinary nurses and our wonderful veterinary care assistant. Our nursing team proudly provides high quality nursing care through anaesthesia, surgical preparation ahead of ocular surgery, assisting with ophthalmic examinations, client communication and care, blood sampling and equipment maintenance to name but a few!

Throughout the month, we will be celebrating the key themes of compassion, mental health, empathy and passion 💙
