Meet Bella 🐶❤️

This lovely cocker spaniel is a popular regular at Focus Referrals! She suffers from the condition Immune Mediated Keratitis, affecting both eyes. In this condition the immune system mistakenly attacks the cornea (the clear surface of the eye) causing inflammation and potentially loss of vision.

Thanks to her family's dedication, Bella's condition is being well managed, keeping her comfortable, visual and able to live a happy life! 👏

A lovely litter of puppies in to see Mike today for their BVA litter eye screen (and a cuddle)!🐶🥰

Eye testing clinics allow us to screen for hereditary eye conditions and are a great example of responsible breeding ensuring the good health of dogs in the future. ☺️

Feel Good Thursday! 🎉

This week has seen an exciting step forward for Focus Referrals in our sustainability initiative. We have had SageTech canisters fitted, an innovative anaesthetic gas capture technology which prevents harmful waste gases from being released into the atmosphere.

This will drastically reduce our carbon footprint! Now that's something to feel good about! 🙌🌎🌱🙂

At Focus Referrals, we like to give plenty of time and attention to each of our patients. Luckily we are small enough to make sure this happens! Here is lovely rescue Cocker Spaniel Reeva having a cuddle with vet Cat before her cataract operation last week. 🐶🥰

Meet Gus 💙🐶

This lovely boy visited us at Focus Referrals as a puppy after developing a very deep corneal ulcer (a crater in the outer clear surface of the eye) in his eye. Emergency surgery was able to patch up the ulcer and save his eye 👏.

Gus has since been back to us to have his eyelid length altered surgically by Helen. His breed is prone to eye problems and exposed eyes with long eyelids can be one of the causes. Now he can blink better which ultimately should lead to better long term eye health 👍👀.

We are so pleased that Gus' owner reports that he is doing brilliantly! ☺
