We had such a fun walk around Monkey Park in Tenerife! 🐒🌴

Filled with loads of amazing animals, from guinea pigs, tortoises, turtles, crocs and macaws too and of course, the monkeys! 🐢🐊🦜🐒

🐍 BABY CORN SNAKES — These little guys are doing brilliantly and are now READY TO GO TO THEIR NEW HOMES!

🕷️ TARANTULAS & INVERTS — We’ve got plans to seriously UP OUR GAME in this department! Expect more species, more variety and some seriously cool additions!

🎉 The Reptile Realm is open 1 year! 🎊
Honestly, what an experience it has been!

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I opened the doors to The Reptile Realm. It definitely hasn’t been easy juggling a full-time job, running the shop and having a family life at the same time.

There have been some really tough days, and I’ll be honest, plenty of times where I’ve been wondering if I’m actually doing the right thing and whether it’s all going to work out.

But looking back at what we’ve achieved in such a short space of time, I’m genuinely proud of how far we’ve come.

We literally built this business from nothing. Everything has been done piece by piece, gradually building the shop up and trying to make it better as we go.

In that time we have obtained our Pet Shop Licence and then had it renewed, obtained our Type 1 Transport Licence and then upgraded that to a Type 2. And probably one of the biggest milestones of all was obtaining our Zoo Licence! 🦎🐍

That’s a lot to achieve in just one year.

I also want to say a massive THANK YOU to every single person who has supported us.

Whether you’ve walked through the shop door, bought something online, purchased an animal, picked up livefood, shared a post, recommended us to someone or simply stopped for a chat it genuinely means a lot.

Without our customers, The Reptile Realm simply wouldn’t be here.

There’s still a hell of a lot I want to do with the shop and plenty of plans for the future. We’re still learning, still improving and still building it up bit by bit.

I also want to give a massive thank you to Mathew for everything he has done for me, offering cover and flexibility when I needed it the most. Absolute gentleman he is as most of you would agree.

So here’s to one year of The Reptile Realm 🥂

🌴 HOLIDAY NOTICE 🦎🐍

Just a little heads-up for all our customers I’m off on holiday from Saturday 15th August for 10 days! ☀️✈️
I’ll be doing my very best to make sure the shop stays open as much as possible while I’m away. However, there may be some days where the shop has to be closed.

Matthew will be stepping in whenever he can to help keep things running as normally as possible, but this is a huge ask of him, and there may be times when he’s unavailable.
I’ll make sure to give as much notice as possible if we need to close on any particular day, so please keep an eye on our social media before making a journey to the shop.

A massive thank you to everyone for your understanding and continued support!

But you’ve got to admit, our Salmon Pink Birdeater is pretty impressive! 😍

🕷️ Species: Lasiodora parahybana
📏 Size: Up to around 20–25cm leg span
⏳ Lifespan: Females can live 15–20+ years
🥚 Babies: A single egg sac can contain hundreds to well over 1,000 spiderlings!
🌿 Habitat: Tropical forests, woodland and grassland areas, where they live mainly in burrows
🌎 Native to: Brazil 🇧🇷
