Cooper
Male
13 Years Approx
Lurcher

Cooper has just been returned to the sanctuary after first being adopted in 2019.
Obviously his needs have changed as he's got older and perhaps some separation issues have creeped in. Additionally there may be some issues with brain function (Canine Cognitive Dysfunction) also and he is being trialed on some medication to see if this helps.

The sanctuary will assist with meeting the cost of these vet bills in an effort to improve Coopers chances of adoption. This can be discussed later in the process. Of course we do not want for Cooper to have a lengthy stay in kennels although we worry that his breed type and age may put some people off.

Cooper has a lot of love to give and likes to be close to his people, he has a way of winning over your heart.

Cooper could potentially live with another dog pending successful meet and greets.

Cooper sadly could not live with cats and small furries.

Cooper could live with older children 13 + years who have a sensible approach to dogs.

DSH

Cash was recently returned to the sanctuary due to owners ill health.

Cash was initially a stray so we didn't have much background on him.
However he is a sweet boy who seems to enjoys attention and pets.
Cash has mixed well with other cats while at the sanctuary and we feel he could live with children who have a sensible approach.

DSH

Sadly little Umbra was recently returned to the sanctuary due to owners ill health.

Umbra can be a shy little lady who really needs some structure in her life. She has had a few big changes in this last year or so.

Umbra has lived with both dogs and cats previously but would benefit from a quiet home without young children.

⭐️ Shout out in the hope we can keep them together.⭐️

Unfortunately little Peanut and Rosie's relationship is breaking down, we have no doubt this is to do with the stresses that they face in kennel life.

I would like to shout out our supporters to share their appeal far and wide.

While Rosie could easily live with another dog Peanut is not at all tolerant of other animals and we are aware this adds to difficulty in finding a suitable home for them together.

Rosie (left) and Peanut (right)

Westie x Poodle

9 Years
2 x females

UPDATE - Peanut has decided she would like for Rosie to be her only doggy friend- no other dogs will be accepted by this little lady.

Rosie and Peanut are two siblings who were recently surrendered to the sanctuary due to owners ill health.

We would love to keep this little pair together as they have been together all their lives, they share a fab relationship apart from having the odd word (what siblings don't).

Despite being 9 years they are full of life and fun, they are a joy to watch and we hope they can enjoy their home comforts again soon.

Rosie and Peanut are both quite healthy dogs.

Frenchie x Pug x JRT

Charlie was recently surrendered to the sanctuary due to owner having to go into care.

Charlie has been very much used to the best of home comforts but didn't get out and about much.

We loved his little lions mane!

Charlie could live with children aged 8 + years who have a sensible approach to dogs.

Charlie could live with another dog pending successful meet and greets.

🐶⭐️Followers, please like and share to help Reggie's appeal reach far and wide. ⭐️🐶

Reggie arrived to us in May last year, he was initially handed into a local pound, upon meeting him we fell in love, but knew it may be a task finding a suitable home, nonetheless we were determined to try. We didn't want for it to be a lengthy kennel stay for Reggie but it has become one.

Reggie has gotten himself the title of "King Reggie" and is almost like a part of the team now, from joining us for trips out in the van, helping with making up feeds or making sure the office is running smoothly, our Reggie does it all.

We do our best but with the upcoming breed restrictions there is a fear that Reggie could end up living the rest of his life kennels. In many ways the restrictions have revised the bar for potential homes. Reggie has never been short of interest or applications but many of the applicants don't meet his specific criteria and some others have simply changed their mind during the process.

These breed restrictions bring with them some added responsibilities to any potential adopter, such as but not limited to -
needing to be muzzled while on walks
short leads in public areas
having to have public liability insurance
the dog having to be neutered
microchipped
licensed to owner
and registered as exempt,

Details on all of thee above will hopefully be released soon.

Of course you will still need to be the best of dog owners, and willing to comply with all of the above to keep Reggie safe. You will be an ambassador for bully dogs and in a way, an ambassador for Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary! While of course we can't predict the future, things such as your housing situation will need to be stable. If you are renting consider if your landlord would allow for not only a pet, but a restricted/banned/exempt dog?

When breed restrictions are active rehoming, sale, advertisement or exchange of gift of XL Bully types like Reggie will be illegal, which would restrict our ability to take him back into our care if the home could not keep him after adoption for any reason.

All of the above being said, you can check out Reggie's album on our page, which includes his antics and life with us, things such as, munching on grass when out for walks, supervising staff as they set up feeds for the other dogs, modelling Mid-Antrim merchandise and eating lots of food!

While Reggie has lots of dog walking buddies, he does need a slow introduction and careful observation of his body language, we try to stay positive and hope he could possibly live life with a suitable spayed female.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒Children - 13+ with a sensible approach to dogs.

🏡Flats - No.

🏡6ft + fencing is a must.

🐱No cats.

Whilst Reggie is the best boy he will be a part of our Aprils Wish program to assist him with the initial adjustment period of settling into a new home 🙂

Massive thanks to long term volunteer Bea and her colleagues at Phoenix Energy Belfast for organising this donation from their workplace.
This photo doesn’t even begin to show the amount of goodies that were donated, there was so much of it that they had to arrange transport to get it up to us.
Bottom right is Bea pictured with colleague Mandy and wee Maya who came along to supervise the delivery 💕
You can see Bo (JRT) and Marley (Retriever) getting first dibs on some of the toys 😀. Bo has his own toy box in his kennel and feels the need to add to it at every opportunity - he can often be found sneaking into another kennel when it’s empty just to “borrow 😉” someone elses toys.
Thanks again Phoenix Energy Belfast 🤩🐾😺
