Summer is finally here 😎🌞

With temperatures set to reach highs of 27°C over the next few days, it’s important to keep our furry friends safe in the heat.

Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water, access to shade, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day ☀️🐾

If you’re concerned your pet may be suffering from heat-related issues, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

We hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoy the long awaited sunshine! 🌼

🩺💚 Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 💚🩺

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month, and we’re recognising and celebrating the vital role our veterinary nurses play within the practice team.

Veterinary nurses are involved in every stage of patient care - from monitoring anaesthesia and assisting with procedures, to diagnostic imaging, inpatient care, laboratory work, emergency support and client communication. Their clinical skills and dedication are an essential part of the care we provide every day.

Thank you to Ruby, Ula, Sarah and Chloe for everything you do for our patients, clients, and team! 💚

🐍‼️ Adder Alert ‼️🐍

The long-awaited sunshine over the past few weeks has tempted the reptile kind to come out of hiding to catch some rays ☀️

This little chap was spotted at Aldeburgh Golf Course, and we’ve also had reports of adders in Thorpeness and Sizewell too.

We’ve already treated a few dogs for adder bites and the season has only just begun! So please take extra care when walking in any woodland, heathland, or long grassy areas 🌿🪵

Signs of an adder bite can include:
• Sudden yelping or pain
• Rapid swelling (often around the face, neck or leg)
• Lethargy, drooling or vomiting
• Two small puncture wounds (not always visible)

If you think your dog has been bitten by an adder:
🚨 Stay calm and keep your dog as still as possible
🐕 Carry your dog if you can to reduce movement and slow the spread of venom
📞 Call us ASAP so the team can prepare for your arrival

If you have any concerns, please give us a call on 01728 598111.

Please share to help spread the word and keep our local dogs safe 🐶

International Women’s Day!! 💪🏼

Although we’re a day late… we still want to shout out the amazing women who make up 85% of the team at Aldeburgh Vets.

Our wonder women include vets, managers, nurses, directors, client care staff, administrators and care assistants - all playing their part in caring for our patients and clients.

Many of them are also balancing busy lives outside of work, with family, further education, businesses and so much more!

Veterinary medicine has become a largely female-led profession, and we’re so proud to have such a strong team here 💙

**THANK YOU""
A huge thank you to Aldeburgh Vets for their generous (and tasty!) contributions for our volunteer crew, who take a flask of hot chocolate on the lifeboats, to keep warm at sea. The fabulous team at the vets also gave us biscuits and tea for the station. These are all very welcome as we train on these chilly days.
