What a fantastic location we got to trail in today!

A former rehabilitation centre and elderly home opened its doors for us, giving teams the chance to experience the joy, challenge, and pure quirkiness of indoor trailing.

And wow… this place was a maze. Endless floors, hidden corners, unusual rooms, and some truly creative scent pictures that really challenged both dogs and handlers to slow down, observe, and trust the process.

I had the pleasure of instructing my teams and trailing with Camilla myself, guided by Melanie from Scent Detectives.

Indoor trailing has such a different feel to it — scent movement, staircases, closed spaces, old odours, humans everywhere… and the dogs absolutely rose to the occasion.

Safe to say, everyone left with a huge smile on their face.

We loved so much having Chris from Earthdog Photography over on our Mantrailing retreat in Engelberg.

To escape the heat, Team Spyke and Team Chaya worked on some scent pool exercises surrounded by plenty of natural distractions.
For both dogs, this type of exercise was about much more than simply “finding the person” — it was about working through distractions, building confidence, making independent decisions, and learning to move through the environment in a calmer, more thoughtful way.

One of my favourite things about mantrailing is watching dogs grow in confidence while still being allowed to work at their own pace and within their comfort zone.

Sadly, retreat day 3 is done and over… and what a way to finish it.

Laughter, brilliant trails, new challenges, a costume race, finding the missing capybara and so many moments that made this retreat unforgettable.

I had the absolute best time meeting wonderful people who welcomed me with open arms, sharing lunches and good food, trailing in beautiful locations, learning new components, handling an unfamiliar dog and getting the opportunity to learn from so many different teams and perspectives along the way.

These few days were such a special mix of fun, connection, trailing and simply enjoying being around people who love this as much as I do. I’m really going to miss it.

Huge thank you again to Danielle & Rhi for running it and Chris for capturing so many of these moments with his camera.

Already looking forward to returning next year !

What a fun Day 2 at the UK Mantrailing Retreat! 🇬🇧🐾

Capybara costumes, split trails, an incredible venue, group dinner with superb food and endless laughs… honestly, these are the moments that make retreats so special.

I absolutely love sharing times like this with people who simply enjoy spending time with their dogs and love mantrailing as much as I do. ❤️

So many great trails, fun moments and memories being made along the way.

Day 1 done at the Marwell Resort Mantrailing Retreat UK, organised by the fabulous Danielle Leggat Frank ‘n’ Scents Mantrailing and Rhiannon Bevan Taff Trailers: Mantrailing for pet dogs ✨

I’m incredibly lucky to be trailing with Teasel, one of Rhi’s dogs, and I’m absolutely loving it.
New dog, no previous knowledge, no assumptions… just pure trailing, reading what’s in front of me, and learning to trust the process without trying to predict the next move.

I equally love following along on everyone else’s trails too. As an instructor, I honestly find this part invaluable — watching different teams, different handling styles, different dogs, and constantly learning from all of it.

Bring on Day 2 !

Still buzzing from last week’s Mantrailing Retreat 2026, we headed back into the forest for some fun 🌲

Today’s teams got the chance to really start reading their dogs on a deeper level, as the environment challenged every single team in different ways. Slower moments, uncertainty, problem solving… all the good stuff that teaches us to trust our dogs a little more.

We added some camo-fun into the mix too, and handlers even got the opportunity to trail with a different dog — which meant Camilla happily got a few trails under her belt as well .

So much learning and teamwork packed into one morning. This is exactly why we love this sport.
