Vet Tech Week Spotlight ✨Guillermo✨

Guillermo joined our team in June of 2024 as a Technician! Before coming to Canada, Guillermo was born and raised in Mexico and worked as a veterinarian there for 7 years! He spent most of his years as a veterinarian working in immunology and neuroinflammation research but also spent 2 years working in general practice and surgery.
Currently, Guillermo is working on getting into veterinary school here and pursue the dream of becoming a licensed veterinarian in Canada!
Currently, he has 1 cat at home who goes by the name of Xolotliltzen. When he is not working or studying, you can find Guillermo at the gym, gardening, playing video games, or keeping up with his hydroponics at home.

Vet Tech Week Spotlight! ✨Kai✨

Kai joined the team at Waterloo West in 2025 and has been a wonderful addition since! Kai has been an Registered Veterinary Technician for 8 years. She spent some time working in emergency and critical care, which she loved. Kai spent a few years living on Vancouver Island where she spent lots of time hiking and taking photographs of wildlife. During her time in Vancouver, she completed a Marine Naturalist program. She would love to utilize this program and work for a whale watching company one day! In her spare time, she enjoys reading and writing alongside her 4 amazing pets! At home, Kai shares her space with Lexi, a Mini Aussie; who is a goofy girl, Luna and Lilith; her silly black kitties and Vince, the ball python!

Vet Tech Week Spotlight! ✨Cara✨

Cara started with Waterloo West Animal Hospital in November 2025 as a Veterinary Technician! Cara graduated from Veterinary Technician program from Northern College in 2023 and from the Companion Animal Physical Rehabilitation program in 2024. While in school Cara worked in a mixed practice in the summer, in-between school semesters. While Cara continues to grow her technician skills, she hopes to eventually use her Rehab program and help patients not only through veterinary medicine, but through rehabilitation. In clinic, she enjoys working with a variety of patients and clients and having opportunities to continue learning through hands-on experiences. Recently, she adopted a spunky orange cat named O’Malley! He was brought into Waterloo West with some medical concerns. Unfortunately, he was surrendered to us, but he was lucky to land a home with Cara! When she is not working, Cara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors whenever possible, whether it's hiking, biking or camping, or relaxing by reading a good book or drawing.

Vet Tech Week Spotlight! ✨Tereziia✨

Tereziia discovered the WWAH team in July 2024. She recently comes to us from Ukraine! We are thrilled to have Tereziia on our team as she had such an extensive background. Before coming to Canada, she was head of the clinic at Eco Centr Lokes and head of the department of therapy named after professor P. Lokes (her father!) both in Poltava, Ukraine. In 2012, she received her complete higher education specializing in veterinary medicine and obtained her qualifications to become a veterinary doctor, in 2013 she finished her Masters of Science in veterinary medicine, in 2015 she obtained her PHD in specialty diagnostics and therapeutics of animals, and finally in 2020, she obtained her certificate of associate professor! Tereziia enjoys the atmosphere of being in a clinic specifically, she enjoys the warmth amongst our team. She can appreciate their professionalism and dedication to a common goal: helping the animals! Tereziia is working on becoming a licensed veterinarian here in Canada, while she does this, she is also working to deepen her knowledge in the diagnostics and treatment of exotic animals and birds. When not working, she enjoys hiking, martial arts and reading.
