Food Security
Bell Island Gardens is an innovative initiative providing fresh grown food not only to our beautiful community of Bell Island but to our province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It became clear that living on an Island within an Island was creating barricades when trying to access fresh, healthy food. Bell Island Gardens can also be described as a hyper-local business, as our focus is on the shortage of fresh food available within our community. We are committed to achieving food security and sustainability.
Currently, we have our vast variety of microgreens available, that is harvested weekly, and year round. We also have traditional crops such as potato, cabbage, turnip, etc, as well, we have green house fruits and vegetables available such tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, etc. We are not certified organic but we are committed to growing our produce as natural as possible. The sea spray from the ocean and rolling winds off of the cliff side help to feed and protect our crops.
Bell Island Gardens is a new business, a business that recognizes the value family and feeding our families with the freshest and healthiest food is something that is very important to all of us here at Bell Island Gardens.
